, Guagua, Pampanga Subject Code: ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE Subject Description: The study of the environment, the processes it undergoes, and the problems that arise generally from the interaction of humans with the environment. It encompasses all that surrounds us; the natural world in which we live, and all the things that are produced by people. Credit Units: 3 units (Lecture) I. Course Description This course provides a comprehensive guide among College Students in Environmental Science to deepen and widen their knowledge which enables them to gain and understand holistically the environment which surrounds us. It provides a strong background for many career paths and instills an understanding of how the environment influences the many and varied aspects of human activity thus enabling students to cope with problems related to their personal needs and social issues. This course will introduce the student to the quantitative nature of knowledge and the skills of scientific investigation. II. General Objectives: At the end of the semester, the students shall be able to: a. obtain a scientific understanding of the environment holistically by describing how its component parts and their interactions have evolved, how they function, and how they may be expected to continue to evolve on all time scales; b. enhance and correlate important facts, theories and phenomena underlying Environmental Science; c. develop critical attitude of how the course could relate them to the present situation as affecting mans existence; d. develop analytical thinking in understanding concepts regarding the subject; and e. improve and understand the basic skills in the application and show the relationship of the course to the other fields of knowledge.
