Governor Snyder shared this message with leaders at a Midwest U.S.-Japan Summit in Tokyo recently, showcasing the changing attitude that Global Detroit is helping to create in Michigan. With the governor embracing the message that immigrants are not just important, but necessary for Michigan's revitalization, we know we're seeing progress. Global Detroit was in the news again, featured in a Dan Rather Reports on Michigan's new strategy, from its implications for international student retention to neighborhood revitalization to entrepreneurship. You can view the 12-minute video report here.
Global Detroit is again teaming up with New Michigan Media, to build off of the momentum created by our successful Immigrants and Michigan's Economic Future Conference this past summer. The Internationational Student Retention Initiative, developed by Global Detroit and now in full swing at URC, was highlighted by the Presidents of Michigan State University, the University of Michigan, and Wayne State University when they spoke in October to a Detroit Economic Club meeting. The ISR Initiative was cited as one shining example of partnership among these great insitutions, working toward common goals. You can read about their talk, and the importance of ISR, here.
