",ll the toil of man is for his mouth, yet his appetite is not satisfied." (E''lesiastes #:7) "/ou shall eat, but not be satisfied, and there shall be hunger within you' you shall put away, but not preserve, and what you preserve I will give to the sword." ((i'ah #:14) "So 0esus said to them, % ruly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 1hoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. Fasting like yours this day will not make your voi-e to be heard on high. Is su-h the fast that I -hoose, a day for a person to humble himself? Is it to bow down his head like a reed, and to spread sa-k-loth and ashes under him? 1ill you -all this a fast, and a day a--eptable to the !"#$? "Is not this the fast that I -hoose5 to loose the bonds of wi-kedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke? 2hrist. For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. In him also you were -ir-um-ised with a -ir-um-ision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the -ir-um-ision of 2hrist, having been buried with him in baptism, in whi-h you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead. ,nd you, who were dead in your trespasses and the un-ir-um-ision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by -an-eling the re-ord of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. his he set aside, nailing it to the -ross. &e disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him. herefore let no one pass (udgment on you in 4uestions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. hese are a shadow of the things to -ome, but the substan-e belongs to 2hrist. !et no one dis4ualify you, insisting on as-eti-ism and worship of angels, going on in detail about visions, puffed up without reason by his sensuous mind, and not holding fast to the &ead, from whom the whole body, nourished and knit together through its (oints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God. If with 2hrist you died to the elemental spirits of the world, why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations66 "$o not handle, $o not taste, $o not tou-h" 8referring to things that all perish as they are used966a--ording to human pre-epts and tea-hings? hese have indeed an appearan-e of wisdom in promoting self6made religion and as-eti-ism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgen-e of the flesh." For everything -reated by God is good, and nothing is to be re(e-ted if it is re-eived with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer." Day 6 Two Kinds of Food When they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, "Rabbi, when did you come here?" (1 Cor nth ans 11:23-26) Day 7 Happy Are The Helpless "eeing the crowds. that the /ord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread. he went u! on the mountain. $or my flesh is true food." (John 17:3) "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.#an shall not live by bread alone. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. not as the fathers ate and died. Whoever feeds on this bread will live forever. that by it you may grow u! to salvation (1 Peter 2:1-2) I o!en my mouth and !ant.." (Matthew 5:1-4) The /1R is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in s!irit. after su!!er. It is no longer I who live. nor let your heart be hasty to utter a word before %od. this man went down to his house 5ustified. $or I consider that the sufferings of this !resent time are not worth com!aring with the glory that is to be revealed to us. and saves the lives of the needy. +ut this is the one to whom I will look0 he who is humble and contrite in s!irit and trembles at my word.. but the one who humbles himself will be e4alted.
