Q.1: Do you think you can run a country on the basis of Utilitarianism? Justify your reasons. U t i l i t a r i a n i s m i s a n e t h i c a l t h e o r y h o l di n g t h a t t h e proper course of action is the one that maximizes the overall good. It is thus a form of consequentialism, meaning that the moral worth of an action is determined by its resulting outcome. Utilitarianism was possible to be applied in our b e f o r e t h e m o d e r n a g e ( b e f o r e 2 1 s t c e n t u r y) . A t t h a t t i m e t h e world was still a communist society and Industries were limited, therefore less competition in between them which allowed much more equality and fair treatment among workers. In other hands the government could also keep the people happy easily as there were a few Industries which c o l l a p s e d , d u e t o t h e l a c k of c o m p e t i t i o n a n d n u m b e r i n between them, during that time which caused much more reliable jobs. D u r i n g o u r t i m e ( t h e 2 1 s t C e n t u r y) i t i s v er y h a r d t o maintain this kind of society with Utilitarianism because it is now a capitalist society in which the leading Industries,

Brands and companies compete against each other and make the government unable to apply Utilitarianism among peoples lives. But if the government tries it can be able to apply Utilitarianism by a lesser extent on people, if not all but in many. They can help collapsing Industries in developing and therefore creating a huge development in the country, help the unemployed find better job opportunities, d e v e l o p i n g t h e c o u n t r y l i v i n g s t a n d a r d s c o n v i n c i n g m or e people to do jobs. Therefore it is difficult to apply Utilitarianism in our modern lives. But still we should try to apply it as much as w e c a n t o o u r s o c i e t y t o i m pr o v e o ur l i v i n g s t a n d a r d s a n d conditions.

Louis XIV (5 September 1638 1 September 1715), known as Louis the Great or the Sun King was king of France and of Navarre. His reign, from 1643 to his death in 1715, began at the age of four and lasted seventy-two years, three months, and eighteen days. As such it is one of the longest documented reigns of any European Monarch.

His life at Versailles had caused more taxes to be levied and while many peasants starved to death he had lived a lavish life. This way he had lost support from many people. He had also continued war for such a long time that his weary army had soon got defeated and same had befallen the Sun king. H e h a d c a n c e l l e d t h e e d i c t of N a n t e s w h i c h f or c e d m a n y skillful protestant worshippers to leave the country. These people were desperately needed in France during that time and caused France to lose many of its valuable Industries. As well as loosing many of its valuable Industries his government had controlled industry so tightly that trade had s t o p p e d a n d F r a n c e w a s a l l b a n kr u p t . I think that the Sun king was not good as under his r u l e d u r i n g t h e b e g i n n i n g h e h a d i n c r e a s e d F r a n c e s p o w er b u t a t t h e e n d F r a n c e w a s l e f t b a n k r u pt , s t a r v i n g , p o w er l e s s a n d s h a m e f u l a m o n g a l l t h e E u r o p e a n c o u n t r i e s of t h a t t i m e . This downgrading of this historical king is often, in history, c o m p a r e d t o t h e r i s i n g a n d s e t t i n g of t h e s u n .

Deism is the belief that God has created the universe a n d d i d h i s j o b a n d i t i s u s w h o ar e t o bl a m e f o r a n y t h i n g that goes wrong and it is up to us to put it right. If anyone if t r e a t e d u n f a i r l y t h e n t h e y s h o u l d n o t w a i t f or G o d t o p u t i t right or to give them a reward in heaven, it was up to them to put it right. Yes I do think that deism can help people run their lives as deism teaches them to repent for their mistakes and be self reliable. They can learn to deal with problems

themselves and force the government to make fairer laws as the people wont ignore if they are treated unjustly. Deism c a n m a k e t h e w o r l d f a i r e r a n d h e l p u s m a k e o ur l i v e s e a s i e r t o l i v e . I t c a n m a k e p e o p l e m o r e r e s p o n s i b l e f or t h e i r o w n words, deeds and actions. It makes the people think that their lives are useless and it is their job to create a beautiful planet for their future generations. But in some religions such as Islam, Judaism and C h r i s t i a n i t y , f o l l o w e r s a r e u n a b l e t o r u n t h e i r l i v e s i n f or m o f d e i s m a s i t i s f o r b i d d e n a s i t c a u s e s d e cr e a s e o f f a i t h t o w a r d s g o d . T h e r e f o r e w o r s h i p p e r s of t h o s e r el i g i o n s a r e forced to remain without deism. Therefore not all people can live happy lives with deism and are unable to follow it.
