Rigid Foundation

Triangulated Wide-Stance Castings
Get out your tape measure and check the distance between leveling bolts. Measure the width of the column and the depth of the saddle. Then look inside the castings for the heavy-duty, vibration-absorbing ribs that Haas designs in. Now go measure the competition – you’ll find they just don’t measure up to a Haas.

Massive Cast-Iron Construction
Cast iron is more expensive to buy and machine, but it provides up to ten times the damping capacity of steel. That’s why Haas uses cast iron for all major components. Castings are reinforced internally with heavy ribs to resist flex and damp vibrations, and each casting is inspected thoroughly before and after machining to ensure it is free of flaws.

All structural components are optimized using finite element analysis (FEA) to produce the most rigid designs.

ballscrew growth can lead to cutting errors. Data from the ballbar is fed into a computer that plots a chart illustrating machine accuracy. A copy of this chart ships with each Haas VMC as assurance that the machine is accurate and properly aligned. Any deviations in squareness or accuracy show up as distorted circles that are very easy for a technician to spot. which can cause them to expand. they generate heat. 100% Ballbar Tested Haas uses a state-of-theart ballbar test to check the linear accuracy and geometry of every machine. (Available on VF-1 through VF-11. Double-Anchored Ballscrews Haas uses only premium-quality ballscrews and guides from the world’s top manufacturers. 7 . Brushless Servomotors Box Way Recirculating Ball Guideway Required Clearance Zero Clearance Haas uses state-of-the-art brushless servomotors that offer more torque in a smaller frame than almost any other motors available. This ensures that all critical components are lubricated with the correct amount of oil at all times. These guideways are preloaded for zero clearance. Recirculating ball guides have a very low coefficient of friction. allowing faster movements without sacrificing repeatability or positioning accuracy. do not require adjustment and are proven to outperform sliding box ways for accuracy and speed. Each guideway is automatically lubricated to guarantee long life. while providing higher accuracy and reliability. and provides more accurate threading and contouring. and higher acceleration/deceleration rates to reduce cycle times. and provide full load-carrying capacity in all directions. saving time and reducing maintenance costs.Recirculating Ball Guideways Haas uses recirculating ball guideways for each axis of every VMC. even under severe loading. This increases rigidity and stiffness in all directions. Haas Direct-Coupled Servomotors Our servomotors are coupled directly to the ballscrews with steel disc couplings to eliminate windup. Automatic Lubrication The Haas automatic lubrication system meters and distributes oil to guideways and ballscrews as the machine operates. Box ways require clearance between the moving surfaces in order to operate. These highperformance servos provide more power for heavy cuts. Recirculating Ball Guideways Outperform Box Ways Recirculating ball guideways are preloaded to provide zero clearance between the moving surfaces. resulting in stick-slip effects that can lead to machine errors. They consume less power. Highresolution encoders and closedloop digital feedback ensure ultraprecise positioning. Box ways have a high coefficient of friction. This greatly improves positioning accuracy. And they don’t wear out or lose accuracy over time.
