Blinky’s Random Thoughts
From the book of poems by Edward Frasier of Bennington, Vermont who suffered from a rare and painful lung disease. He was hospitalized because of the disease, but, rather than simply wither away, during the last few months of his life he wrote a book of poems. Ed was not a college graduate, and wrote his poetry from what he called “a common man’s perspective. Thoughts That Come At Night Though I am tired, and my body yearns to rest, And my heart beats so much slower, way deep down in my chest, Though I’ve lain my head upon my pillow, for my body wants to rest, I close my eyes and wait for sleep to come-to sleep-- and then to rest. But sleep won’t come, for thoughts still fall, like rain, -- upon the forest floor. And words I think of, -- I must capture, so they may live at least once more. Capture, lest they escape the confines of my head, Lest they be lost, and once be lost, are buried with the dead. For to think that I might lose them, does fill my heart with dread. So once again I must rise up, to write the words I must keep, for until it is I’ve done this thing, there will be no chance to sleep. Some words are meant to silence night, Some words once spoken create delight, We string words together, and instead of sight, let sound suffice, as with our thoughts, we speak together through the night.

November 4, 2011 - John Carmody of Carmody Ford, and Lynette Stark, Executive Director, of NENY Affiliate.

Carmody Ford, located in Greenwich, NY, in conjunction with Ford’s Warriors in Pink, held a fundraiser this past October to help raise money for breast cancer research. The Drive for a Cure event was held on Saturday, October 22nd at the dealership. A grand total of $1,825 was raised and donated to the Northeastern New York Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The amount raised was a combined effort between $5 donations by the dealer for every test drive that took place that Saturday, $50 for every vehicle sold, raffle ticket sales and silent auction. Raffle and auction items were kindly donated by local businesses, including: The Great Escape Lodge and Indoor Water Park, Subway, Platinum Protective Coatings, and Battenkill Country Club just to name a few. The day-long event also featured a cook-out, refreshments, face painters and bounce house for children, a breast cancer educational booth, and music courtesy of 2 local radio stations that were on site for live remotes. “We look forward to making Drive for a Cure an annual event here at Carmody Ford,” said John Carmody, President of Carmody Ford and Carmody East Auto Center. “It was a fun-filled day for the whole family. The event brought our employees and community together and raised money for a great cause.” stated Carmody. Plans are already in progress for next year’s Drive for a Cure event to be held on the second Saturday of October. Contact Audrey Pinheiro at (518) 791-4487 to find out how you can help or be a part of the event.
