Hotep (Greetings) NABSW Student Chapter Vice Presidents: Welcome to the 2011 - 2012 academic school year! We hope you had time to rest and rejuvenate in preparation for a successful semester. It is with joy and honor that we introduce ourselves to the NABSW Family as your 2011-2012 1st Vice President (Glenda A. Duru, BSW) and 2nd Vice President (Michael J. Riley) of the National Association of Black Social Workers, Office of Student Affairs (OSA). We have set many goals and expectations for our executive committee to accomplish. We encourage all students to join the student movement of NABSW as we come together to better the future of tomorrows social workers; and bring strength, unity and solidarity to our communities and our profession. To all chapter Vice Presidents, we congratulate and thank you for leading your chapters in a positive way. We understand the challenges you may experience, as we are students also. We will work very hard to fulfill our responsibilities as your OSA 1st and 2nd Vice Presidents. Our term vision is to empower student members to become more active members of NABSW, and for the work of the student chapters to be positively represented at the NABSW Annual Conference. 1st VP goals of the year are to organize a day of service project that mirrors both NABSW and OSAs theme for the year; to work together with the Atlanta Chapters to organize a day of service that is directly related to the field of Social Work; and to work to create a more effective method of connecting OSA with Student members during conference. 2nd VP goals for this administration are to establish successful student chapters and strengthen current chapters; to facilitate students successful transitions to local/parent chapters upon graduation; and increase student participation at the National Conference. In order to accomplish these goals, we ask that you thoughtfully consider joining one of the committees we chair. These include the OSA conference, community service, membership, and/or transition committees. We would like to meet with all the student chapters Vice Presidents, Service and Membership chairs through participation in our quarterly conference calls. This is how we disseminate important information, updates and provide a forum to discuss ways to enhance our organizations. It is our hope that
