Kudos to Don Gordon

Don Gordon is a Stockbridge businessman who has lived in Henry County for 20 years. He has serviced FDIC properties for the last 2.5 years in Henry County and surrounding area. On his own, Don is supplying the food for, smoking BBQ and furnishing all sides for the Henry County Police Department in December for their annual awards ceremony and holiday celebration (approximately 220 people). Don says, I am doing this in appreciation of the services they provide us citizens and the sacrifices they and their families make for us. Otherwise, their budget does not allow for this event in 2011. The Citizen commends Don Gordon for his dedication to the people who show their dedication to us! Drop a message to say Thanks, Don. S.1867 National Defense Authorization Bill 2012

I want to address S.1867 National Defense Authorization Bill 2012. Many tea partiers and good Americans are lambasting this Bill urging that we call our Senators regarding infringements of rights. (See these online headlines) "Senate Moves To Allow Military To Intern Americans Without Trial" http://www.prisonplanet.com/senate-moves-to-allow-military-to-intern-americans-without-trial.html I read the Bill this morning just to see what it says. The offending Section is 1031. This Bill specifically exempts US Citizens. It only applies to Taliban and Al-Qaeda or those people living here that assisted AlQaeda or the Taliban. They would be considered enemy military combatants. What's all the hub-bub? You can read all if is yourself if you access the .pdf file below on page 359. It is a short section. This is the section regarding US Citizens. 16 AND LAWFUL RESIDENT ALIENS. 17 (1) UNITED STATES CITIZENS.The requirement to detain a person in military custody under this section does not extend to citizens of the United States.

Subtitle DDetainee Matters Sec. 1031. Affirmation of authority of the Armed Forces of the United States to detain covered persons pursuant to the Authorization for Use of Military Force. Sec. 1032. Requirement for military custody. Sec. 1033. Requirements for certifications relating to the transfer of detainees at United States Naval Station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to foreign countries and other foreign entities. Sec. 1034. Prohibition on use of funds to construct or modify facilities in the United States to house detainees transferred from United States Naval Station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Sec. 1035. Procedures for periodic detention review of individuals detained at United States Naval Station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Sec. 1036. Procedures for status determinations. Sec. 1037. J. CHRIS VAUGHN FOR US CONGRESS - GA 4 TH DISTRICT

Chris Vaughn.jpg A letter from the candidate

Through much prayer, encouragement of my precious family and the support of trusted friends I have come to a place of decision. I am declaring my intention of seeking the seat for U.S. Congress of Georgias 4th District. This decision didnt come easily or lightly. But it comes from a heart moved by what I see going on around me. Every day I counsel people who are going through life altering situations. Situations over which they have no control, and in many cases worsened by government policies. Senior citizens are faced with having to re-enter the workforce as they have watched their retirements evaporate. Families are literally being torn apart, struggling to pay the bills, making choices many times between putting food on the table or paying their mortgage. Uncertainty and fear of the future has gripped our nation. All this while Washington has turned a deaf ear to focus on everything, but the main thing- we, the people! The day we live in has many challenges! Government decisions should NOT be a burden or impediment to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness! Decisions should be based on values and common sense. But Washington and Georgias 4th District, has lacked leaders willing to make common sense decisions that will produce long-term stability. Short-term answers will not produce long term results. A phrase that has guided my life is, Helping Make Decisions that Make A Difference! Quality decisions based upon values, bring quality change!

Endorsement from Elizabeth BJ Mathis

Today our Nation stands at the crossroads. More than ever Washington D.C. is in desperate need of men and women of integrity and strong moral convictions. We need leaders who will use a common sense, no nonsense approach to decisions making and help guide our Nation back to the foundational principles that make our Country, the United States of America, the greatest nation in the world! Chris Vaughn is the leader we need to meet todays challenges. I know Chris personally. He is a man of strong moral convictions who loves God, his family and this Nation. Chris Vaughn is the man you can trust to make the right decisions, not the politically correct decisions. Chris is the common sense, no nonsense man needed to restore respect and trust to the 4th Congressional District. That is why I whole heartedly endorse Chris Vaughn and encourage you to support him for the 4th District Congressional seat! Elizabeth BJ Mathis Chairman, Henry County Board of Commissioners

A Nation In The Midst of Barbarism

There are movements in our nation that are creating an underlying change in the political atmosphere that most Americans are used to seeing. It began with the Independent movement where politicians ran as Independents because they were not happy with the Republican or Democrat Parties and the platforms for which they stand. Then we started seeing the various Tea Parties, 9-12 movements and even a Tenth Amendment group. We have had splinter groups of both the Republican and Democrat Parties which have some very radical ideas. Now we are seeing Occupy Groups in just about every major city in America. Their message is that they are tired of business as usual. Most of this has been brought about by the Socialistic programs being issued by the current administration that rules Washington, D.C. We have a Congress that cannot work together without attacking one another with various types of salvos. The people in the nation dont know what to make of much of this as they watch a steady parade of talking heads on the nightly news. All this is happening while there are major changes occurring over the waters in the Middle East. Country after country is seeing their leadership change some in forced resignation and others through death. We are seeing nations on the European continent lose their economies due to the lack of good management. In Asia, we see China growing rapidly in the economic world, but they are on a slippery slope themselves because they dont know how to manage the fruits of their labor. Upon the African continent we are witnessing a mass genocide in some areas where people are being forced to starve to death. In some areas, the people are being dictated to by those who only want to see financial glory through the mass taking of oil reserves and using the people as slaves to gain their wealth. Now this brings us back to our nation. A nation that has seen drastic changes in the economy, loss of property value, failing banks, and rising unemployment. The stock market rising and falling like someone with bad blood pressure. And all in the name of greed.

A nation where the President doesnt mention God in his Thanksgiving address to the people. A nation that doesnt want to say Merry Christmas anymore, but will wish you everything else. A nation that for some reason cant find itself to say Christ anymore. This nation built upon the teachings of that Christ and from the book where you will find Him, The Holy Bible. This nation is letting a barbaric world creep into its society. It has been quietly happening for a long time, but now it finds itself in key positions within mainstream America. This barbarism instigates trouble on a grassroots level to gain something it wants so badly and that is power. The sad thing is that we let it happen because we are the home of the free and we left the door open too long. And all the while, this barbarism has pushed to the point where even our founding principles are awash in the squalor of unbridled lust. The world looks to this nation for guidance and reprieve. But we cannot give our own people solitude of knowing that our laws will be obeyed by the masses. If the laws we create to rule ourselves are not enforced, then why do we make them? Why do we elect and pay people to make the laws if we shun them? This nation better wake up and find these answers soon while we still have a nation where you can even read these words. McDonough Visioning Workshops

Below in blue are the first two paragraphs of a PR sent out recently regarding the DECEMBER 5-6-7 follow up meetings to the city and ARCs June Visioning Workshops. Need your help big time in making the masses of McDonough citizens aware of next weeks event. I am back following an 8 week absence. Great to be back and to begin working with some of my favorite people, including the Media, once again. Thank you in advance for the help I know you will provide. Community Development Dir. John Cheek will make himself available for interviews on this subject if you would like to schedule. He is a great individual. THANK YOU AGAIN!! The City of McDonough is beginning the process of writing a new zoning ordinance for its Downtown and surrounding neighborhoods. The new ordinance will be aimed at maximizing McDonoughs opportunities to attract mixed-use and quality in-fill development; improve connections to recreational amenities near the Town Square; and enhance street and sidewalk appearance, safety and connectivity. The first step in the process actually began in June of this year with a series of Visioning Workshops led by Atlanta Regional Commission staff. The next step will be to conduct the last of the Visioning Workshops from December 5-7. That

workshop will include a public presentation the evening of December 6 during which ARC will hand the process off to City staff and the consulting team hired by the City to assist them.

Britton Buttrill's Uffizi at The Strawberry One Act Festival, New York, NY
http://www.indiegogo.com/Birton-Buttrills-Uffizi-at-The-Strawberry-One-Act-Festival-New-York-NY

Our Story
Britton Buttrill and Dustin Brown first met at Oglethorpe University, as undergraduate students involved in student theater. Britton and Dustin worked together to produce Brittons first one acts on Oglethorpes Lupton stage. After graduation, Britton has written both one acts and full length plays, which have received staged readings around Atlanta. In Brittons latest play, Uffizi, an American couple trapped in a claustrophobic hotel room in Florence, Italy in the middle of December decides to take desperate measures in order to reconcile their deep sexual scars. Brittons play was selected for the Winter 2012 Strawberry One Act Festival in New York and will have its World Premiere in New York City on March 4th.

The Impact
Uffizi will be the first fully realized professional stage production of one of Britton Buttrill's scripts. Not only will it be Britton's first professional production, it will also be his first Off-Broadway playwriting credit. The winner of the festival will have the opportunity to have their work produced by the Riant Theatre Off-Broadway. This is a unique opportunity for Britton and gives him the chance to jump-start his career as a playwright. For the cast and crew of Uffizi, this production will provide a professional New York credit, and for many of them this will be their New York debut. This is also an opportunity for these artists to work with an emerging playwright in order to develop a new script. Finally, Uffizi will represent emerging Atlanta artists to a New York audience at a major international one-act play festival.

The Who & What

Britton Buttrill received his BA in English Literature from Oglethorpe University in 2011. Although he has considered himself a lifelong writer, he discovered an overwhelming passion for playwriting during his time at Oglethorpe, and through his experiences at Oglethorpe, he decided to pursue a life in the theatre. Through Oglethorpes theatre program, Britton was able to stage five of his plays, spurning his passion for playwriting. He was able to study with Alliance Theatre dramaturge Jennifer Hebblethwaite and Atlanta playwright Jim Grimsley. Oglethorpe also afforded him the opportunity to study playwriting at Oxford University through the Washington International Studies Council, and the University gave him the opportunity to direct a full production of Agnes of God on the Conant stage. Oglethorpe directly prepared Britton for a life in the professional theatre world through internships with both Fabrefaction Theatre Company and Georgia Shakespeare. Because of the skill-set learned through these internships, he was able to become a full Artistic Associate with Pinch n' Ouch Theatre after graduation. Since graduating, Britton won Horizon Theatres New South Young Playwrights Festival and has since received professional staged readings at both Horizon Theatre and The Drive-By Theatre Project. As a professional, he has assistant directed Tape with Pinch n' Ouch Theatre and will be assistant directing RED at Theatrical Outfit. Uffizi will be Britton Buttrills first professional production, and his Off-Broadway premiere. Dustin Brown has been directing since he was sixteen, starting with high school one act competitions in Chattanooga, TN. In selecting a college, Dustin was drawn to Oglethorpe University because of its small size and open approach to education. The freedom to create your own direction, allowed Dustin to focus his efforts on Directing and Producing plays. While at Oglethorpe, Dustin founded a community theater company in his home-town of Chattanooga and directed and produced his first full-length play, Neil Simons Barefoot in the Park. At Oglethorpe, Dustin was instrumental in founding the student production company Rehearsal Room C, which would come to dominate his collegiate experience. RRC received awards and accolades from the student body as well as the faculty, and gave Dustin the opportunity to direct the musical Bat Boy his junior year. Through RRC, Dustin developed an annual one act festival that brought student written, directed and performed plays to the OU community. It was through this festival that Dustin first met Britton, and directed his adaptation of Ernest Hemingways Hills Like White Elephants. After graduating from Oglethorpe in 2010, Dustin has remained active in Atlanta theatre, working as a director and lighting designer.

The Strawberry One-Act Festival at the Riant Theatre is celebrating its 21st season. The brainchild of Artistic Director, Van Dirk Fisher, the Festival is a play competition in which the audience and the theatre's judges cast their votes to select the seasons best play. Hundreds of plays from across the country are submitted for the competition, and once they reach New York, the plays move from the 1st Round to Semi-Finals and then Finals. From the Finals the audience and judges select a winning play, and the playwright of the winning play receives the opportunity to have a full-length play developed by the Riant Theatre. Awards are also awarded for Best Director, Actor and Actress.

What We Need
Our estimated budget for Uffizi is $5,000.00 from individual contributions. Fundraising for Uffizi will cover all of the traditional production elements for a performance, as well as the expense of travel relating to the festival. These include: - Costs for set, costume and other design elements. - Stipends for Cast and Crew. - Flight expenses for essential Cast and Crew to NYC. - Room and Board in NYC for the two-week run of the festival. In addition to our individual contributions campaign, we are working with other institutions to cut costs and secure other support.

Other Ways You Can Help
