If your child has PE, please remind your child that s/he still needs to bring the PE uniform to school. While we do want the students to enjoy the time out of uniform, please encourage your child to exercise sound judgment when choosing their attire so that they arrive at school dressed appropriately (no bare midriffs, spaghetti straps, baggy pants, etc.). Please also remember that students should not bring to school any weapon or copy thereof when dressed in theme. If your child opts not to dress in the theme of the day, your child is expected to be in school uniform. Please join us on Thursday, December 8 for the Middle School Concert and hear the talents of our musicians. The performance begins at 5:30 in the FAT. We hope to see you there! On Friday, December 9 the PE Department has organized a Sports Day. Each student has been assigned to a house – Aklan, Baguio, Cebu, or Davao – and will have opportunities to participate in events throughout the day. All parents are invited to attend and cheer on their child. Looking ahead…On Thursday, December 15 students will be dismissed at 12:00 noon. Please make the necessary transportation arrangements so that your child is picked up promptly at dismissal time. Have a relaxing weekend! From the PTA

***
Dear Parents, The holidays are quickly approaching, and I’m sure we are all looking forward to enjoying some well-deserved vacation time. However, the PTA has its biggest event of the school year coming up as well –International Family Fun Day (IFFD), which will take place on January 21, 2012. This is an event that continues to be a highlight of the ISM experience. There are many reasons for attending and participating in IFFD – from children enjoying the games and fun with their friends to parents experiencing a new adventure in culinary “diplomacy” at the International Food Tasting Booths. In past years, countries from all over the world have been represented in the International Food Fair. It only takes a small group of volunteers to put together a booth, and sharing our diverse, multi-national cuisine is a truly rewarding experience. Please contact me if you want to get involved. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated! Thus far I have at least one volunteer for the following countries: Japan, Taiwan, Pakistan, Thailand, Latin America, Australia/New Zealand, and Europe Here are the countries that have not yet been represented: Philippines, India, Korea, America/Canada, China, and Indonesia. If you are interested or know anyone who is, my contact information is: Melanie Ball (Food Booths Chair) E-Mail: melaniehball@gmail.com Mobile: 09154636387 Landline: 816-0059

From the Athletics & Activities Office
HS Practices during ICARE Week: As has been a practice in past years, only varsity practices will be held during ICARE week if there are enough team members completing ICARE at local Manila sites. Varsity coaches have been checking with their players this week and advising if practices will be on next week. Please check with your coaches. There will not be any practices for JV teams during HS ICARE week. Bearcats Basketball: Last weekend, our HS girls basketball team played at Brent in their invitational tournament and they kept their winning run intact so far this season going undefeated and winning the final vs. Brent 43-40. Well done to all players and coaches! Today at ISM we host Faith basketball teams for the first time this season. The matches against Faith are always tight entertaining games of a high standard. JV games will start from 4:00 P.M. at HS gym and the Varsity games will start with the girls match at 4:00 P.M. followed by the boys in the MS Gym. BEARCATS RUGBY 10′s: ISM will host our own rugby tournament with 2 schools from China and 1 school from Japan flying in to play this weekend. The Bearcats Rugby 10′s tournament games was played on Thursday, December 01 and Friday, December 02 afterschool and all day on Saturday, December 03. It is going to be a great event for the development of our rugby program at ISM. We hope that that the ISM community can come out and support our JV and Varsity teams as they battle against Dulwich College Shanghai and Beijing and Canadian Academy Kobe, Japan. IASAS RUGBY/TOUCH HOUSING: The next fantastic ISM Special event is on the horizon. We host rugby/ touch on February 1 to 5, 2012 and 140 athletes require housing for this event. All rugby and touch athletes have been given a housing letter last week at practice and I would also make a request for all athletes that were housed in Singapore recently that we need your support to reciprocate the hospitality given to you by housing for IASAS Rugby/ Touch. The housing letter can be accessed via the ATAC blog or there is a link to it on the IASAS Rugby/Touch page. Housing letters are due in by December 12.
MS Tennis: Congratulations to the MS boys Division B Tennis Team who won their second match of the season last week vs. Southridge 5-0. They play with Ateneo tomorrow in the 3rd match of the season, along with the MS Boys A team who play their first match tomorrow morning at ISM vs. LaSalle Green Hills. The MS Girls tennis team will take on St. Paul in their 2nd match of the season tomorrow. Good luck and a big thanks to the MS tennis parents who have been coming along to support the teams so far this season. ISM Swim meet: Congratulations to all sailfish swimmers who raced last Saturday at our first ISM meet for this year. A great day of racing was had and full meet results are posted on the sailfish blog and on the sailfish page of the ATAC blog. GAME SCHEDULE PDF: (access to game schedule information) Information about all mid week/weekend fixtures for ISM teams can be found via the ATAC blog. Please note the game schedule does change often due to involvement with many local schools so please check the page regularly to find out the latest information of where and when the Bearcats teams are playing. Click on schedules tab or the Bearcat logo to be directed to the http://powerschool.ismanila.org/public/. You will need your Powerschool username and password to access the game schedule. BEARCAT DEN Regular Opening Hours for the Bearcat Den: • Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 11:30 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. & 2:30 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. • Tuesday & Thursday afternoons, from 2:30 - 4:00 P.M. If you are interested in joining our group of volunteers in the Bearcat Den, please contact our BCD volunteers coordinator, Radhika at radhikasavantmohit@yahoo.com or pop in to the Den near the HS Cafeteria and talk with one of our volunteers. They will be very happy to make you welcome. Regards, Mark Pekin Director of Athletics/Activities
