November 12, 2012
‘Testimony of the destruction of Fr. Anthony Cutcher's computer used while he was pastor at Holy
Rosary Parish in St Marys, Ohio during the year 2007 by Deacon Martin J. Brown.
‘On October 24, 2012, | was searching for @ used computer that could be used in the parish youth.
room. This computer would allow the youth room facilitators to show Catholic videos from the Internet
to our youth. There were five used computers stored in the rectory storage closet beside the pastor's
garage. | began checking these computers to see If they worked or needed recycled. One of the
‘computers was a small brown compact unit, which was used by Fr. Anthony Cutcher while he was the '
pastor here at Holy Rosary. | found many personal files of letters and business correspondence that you
would expect to find in @ pastor’s computer so | began deleting these files to free up space and speed up
the computers response. | left the annulment files alone for Fr. Barry Stechschulte to review. When |
opened the video library, I found very disturbing videos that had been downloaded from a laptop. These
Videos were of young male actors undressing and masturbating. Some of the actors were dressed in
camouflage clothing like the men of our armed forces wear, They were performing in sexually
provocative positions appearing to be having sex with each other. There were several videos in this
Tibrary. em not sure of the ages of these actors. They appeared to be mid to late teens judging from the
physical appearance.
| was shocked to see these videos, so | went to Lora Krugh our school principal because | knew
she was trained in the new VIRTUS program and | could review with her what my next action needed to
be. We decided my next step had to be to meet with Fr. Barry Stechschulte and report my findings to
him,
Ye
Fr. Barry came to my office where | had.ie computer set up and he looked first at the annulment
files. He determined the\iosed cases and he deleted them.
He then asked where I found the videos and | showed him the video library flles. We looked at two of
the videos to confirm that they were downloaded from a laptop and then deleted all the videos in the
file, We discussed how we thought some bad choices had been made by downloading these types of
videos, but it was not our place to Judge since we didn’t know the age of the actors. We decided to
destroy the computer. I took the computer to my workshop at home and disassembled it.I then took my
blow torch and melted the electronic pieces and recycled the metal cabinet. The next day | reported to
Fr. Barry that the computer had been destroyed.
Deacon Martin J. Brown
