Reading by relight in an oversized leather recliner while drinking warm tea, I

become lost in a book. The books story is a life other than my own because Im taken to a place where none of the dramatic occurrences affect me. Its an imagined reality. The sounds of silence, that is turning pages, crackling embers, and sipping become overshadowed by the speaker in my head. Its the power of being lost and knowing exactly where you are. Its the power of getting lost in a book. ! Have you ever been so enthralled in a book, that when you quit reading and think

about it later you think Awh, I wanted to know how it ends? Then you realize its not a TV show - you can go back to it anytime you want and it will still be there. Itll even be there without commercials. Unlike your real life, a books story is a life that doesnt go on without you. You have all the control because you decide when the story happens, yet you have no control because you dont have any part in how it happens. ! While reading, a human nature rarity occurs - there becomes a moment in time

when its not all about us, not pertaining to us at all, yet we still care. With a friend, they may be telling a story which isnt about us and we listen intently, yet it still involves us because the person speaking expects a response from us. Authors and characters dont expect a response. They just put the words out there. Therefore, novels prohibit selshness. If youre truly lost in the book, its scientically proven that you begin to
