Introduction

The aims of this assignment are to measure the outcome of students learning in terms of knowledge acquired, understanding developed and skills or abilities gained in relation to achieve the learning outcomes. The assignment is one report aimed at the 12 Pass criteria as well as Merit and Distinction criteria. Students are expected to demonstrate good understanding of key models and principles of Organisational Structure, Culture, Management and Leadership, Motivational theories and Team working. For Merit and Distinction students are expected analytical and evaluative skills. They need to apply the models and theories in real life situations to achieve higher grades. Students also must show lateral thinking and good writing and referencing skills to achieve Distinction. In writing this report student must present his or her own work. However, they will clearly have to work with and present the work of others. Students must indicate the relevant source(s) of material that they present to support their work.
Specification of Assessment 1- Report

COURSE WORKThis assessment comprises of one part. A report that is aimed at 12 Pass criteria as well as Merit and Distinction. The word limit is minimum 2500, no maximum word limit.

Requirements: 1.1: Compare and contrast different organisational structures and culture. (P1) 1.2: Explain how the relationship between an organisations structure and culture can impact on the performance of the business. (P2) 1.3: Discuss the factors which influence individual behaviour at work. (P3) 1.4: Chose an organisation that you are familiar with. Draw their organisational chart and explain their organisational structure and culture. (M1)

2.1: Compare the effectiveness of different leadership styles and different organisations. (P4) 2.2: Explain how organisational theory underpins the practice of management. (P5) 2.3: Evaluate the different approaches to management used by different organisations. (P6) 2.4: Use the same organisation as in 1.4. Discuss the role of manager in that organisation using Fayols Five Functions (Planning, Organising, Commanding, Coordinating, and Controlling) (M2) 3.1: Discuss the impact that different leadership styles may have on motivation in organisations in periods of change. (P7) 3.2: Compare the application of different motivational theories within the workplace. (P8) 3.3: Evaluate the usefulness of a motivational theory for managers. (P9) 3.4: Take the same organisation as in 1.4. How would you motivate your employees if you are the leader of this organisation? 4.5: Summarise your findings and give recommendations for your chosen company. This grade is awarded to student whose conclusions are clear and concise, theory and practical examples are relevant. (D3) 4.6: Students demonstrate good writing skills and comply with the formal requirements of the report. Students command of English is of a very good standard with only a few grammar and spelling mistakes. The report is written in Times New Roman, size 12; 1, 5 line spacing. (M3)

Grading criteria

Extension and Late Submission
