TITLE: PROJECT 2 (INDUSTRIAL DESIGN IN ERGONOMICS)


1. INTRODUCTION

This course has been to emphasize the application of industrial design aspects in ergonomics for product development. Industrial design is playing important role in winning customer interest. If the designer engineers are fail to facilitate the industrial design and ergonomic principles in their product design they are most probably fail to market the product. Nowadays customers talks about aesthetic, comfortably, colors, etc when to purchase a product.

This project contributes 45% of the overall marks to the course assessment. In this project the students are expected to demonstrate effectively the ability to communicate the design process that they have done. The ability to integrate the various industrial and ergonomics elements for the selected product is essential for the development of the project.

OBJECTIVES

The objectives of the project are for the students to: (a) Understand and follow the stages involved in the design and development of a product based on industrial and ergonomic principles. (b) To integrate, apply aspects and roles industrial design and ergonomics elements for the selected or current products. (c) Verify that the final design is safe, reliable and of sufficient quality and suitable for its intended purpose. Page 1 of 6

TASK

Working in a group consists of four or five students. The group must be able to identify and decide the product. Throughout the project, a group file is required to be kept. The group file will contain matters such as attendance register, meeting minutes, work done, sketches, analysis, group progressive decisions, etc. Accomplished all task stated on Section 5.0.

Finally, make a brief presentation (10 minutes) to your respective lecturers explaining your proposals during week 14 of the semester.

PROJECT ASSESSMENT

5.1 Project Report The completed project report is to be submitted to your respective lecturers on week 14. The marks for the report and contents will be awarded according to the criterion listed below:
