of Jesse as God commanded. When Jesse heard that Samuel wanted to see his sons, he brought them all out, except David, the youngest. Samuel looked at each one of them. When he first saw Jesse¶s oldest son, he thought, ³This is surely who God picked out.´ God spoke to him and said, ³No, not him.´ After looking at all the sons Jesse presented, he asked Jesse if he had any other sons. Jesse said, ³Yes, the youngest, but he¶s out tending the sheep.´ This suggests that Jesse didn¶t think David was worth considering. Samuel told him to get David. Once Samuel saw David, Samuel knew this was going to be the next king of Israel. The lowly shepherd boy, whose father didn¶t think was worth considering, is going to become a king. Why David and not one of Jesse¶s elder sons who he and Samuel thought were worth considering? "When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?" Psalm 8:3-4 We all know how big God is. Just look at the universe. The sun is enormous compared to the earth. If you think the sun is big, compare it to other suns in the galaxy. Our sun is smaller than a tiny pixel compared to some of the other massive suns. There is one sun so big that its circumference would be the orbit of Saturn. Our God is bigger than the boogey-man. He¶s bigger than Godzilla and all the monsters on TV. With a God so powerful, why did he choose the lowly shepherd boy; why does he care for the belittled, the weak, the poor and the helpless? What is it about God that he chooses the weak over the strong; the humbled over the proud? Why would he rather see a poor person give a little than rich men give much? Would you personally rather receive a lot than a little? If God were to pick players for a game, he'd choose the worst first- the ones we'd normally pick last. What is it about God that He acts this way? "For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him." 2 Chronicles 16:9 Out of ALL the nations on the earth God could have chosen, he chose Israel. Why Israel? Why the Hebrew people? You could hardly even call them a nation. Israel was nowhere near as strong as Persia, or Babylon, or Egypt. There was nothing attractive about Israel. They weren't the strongest, they weren't the richest, and they weren't the smartest. If anything, they were the weakest, the poorest, and the dumbest. Yet God chose them to be His people to spread His word. "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for the will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.
By God¶s power it can be done. Though. There is this thing called Karma. These are the realities of life. these are the people who have needs and deserve to have those needs met. It¶s something that God gave us to use. it¶s going to be a real sting in the behind for some. the strong do not need to conquer all. the smartest. the meek. the pure in heart. I don¶t believe in Karma in the physical word. Helpless starving children deserve to be fed. Nothing fools Him. We want to feed our pride. "But many who are first will be last. They will get what they deserve. He wants us to be humbled and rely on Him alone for our strength and inspiration. it tells me that God is just. He knows our hearts and the intentions of all our actions. and many who are last will be first. and the rich do not need any possessions."
