Banned Books, at a library near you!
Haringey Libraries are participating in this national promotion which seeks to raise awareness of issues of censorship and freedom of expression. Librarians have chosen over 100 controversial titles which have been banned or challenged in this country or overseas, historically or currently. Many of the titles are available for loan at Wood Green and Hornsey Libraries and the collection will then tour all the libraries.

Free app puts us online
Available for iPhone, Android and Blackberry handsets, the app will allow you to search, reserve, borrow and renew items on the move – and it’s all free. You will be able to scan the barcode of a book, CD or DVD when they are shopping and automatically search the catalogue to see if it’s available free to borrow in their local library.

What is HALS Family Learning? It is free learning for parents and carers in schools and children’s centres. Some crèche places may be available for parents with preschool children. You may have also realised that schools teach children in very different ways now from when you were at school. Family Learning will introduce you to the school curriculum so that you can support your child without confusing him or her with different methods you may know. Find out about a free class near you in the New Year by calling HALS Family Learning on 020 8489 4772.
