9 January 2012 Dear Parents / Guardians My warmest greetings to you.

The new academic year has started and I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all pupils back to school for another enriching year. This year, our school will be focusing on providing a values-centred education for your child/ward. We believe that building character is of utmost importance in nurturing a childs development. Thus, your child/ward will be engaged in programmes and activities that will not only widen his/her scope of learning, but will also nurture his/her character development. We need your support especially in the character-building of our pupils. Our schools vision is to develop A Learner and A Leader who is curious, reflective and selfdirected. Apart from our comprehensive and holistic Instructional, CCA and Character Education programmes, namely, Values and Ethics Education as well as Personal and Social Education Programmes (PSE), we have designed Habits of Mind lessons to equip students with the necessary skills and competencies to face challenges in life. The 7 Habits which we are focusing on include Questioning and Posing Problems, Persistence, Managing Impulsivity, Striving for Accuracy, Listening with Understanding and Empathy, Thinking Flexibly and Applying Past Knowledge to New Situations. These are very relevant skills and competencies that we hope to equip all students with. We hope to build a strong partnership with you in nurturing your child/ward. We look forward to a meaningful collaboration with you. Thank you and may I wish you and your family a very Happy New Year.
