The   Prince   family   is   happy   to   welcome   2012!     It’s   going   to   be   a   great   year   and   there   is   so   much   GOD   has  ahead  for  us!

January     2012   kicked   off   another   year   of   Ubuntu   Football!    The  boys  went  to   camp   and   started   at   their   new  schools!

This   month   we   celebrated   Kieren  Joy’s  THIRD  birthday   and   had   a   huge   FIESTA   bash  with  all  our  wonderful   friends!

HAPPY  2012  friends  and  family!
“We  are  already  one.  But  we  imagine  that  we  are  not.   And  what  we  have  to  recover  is  our  original  unity.   What  we  have  to  be  is  what  we  are.”   –Thomas  Merton
The   Prince   family   is   excited   to   welcome   2012   and   all   that   is   about   to   come   with   it!     We   celebrated   a   beautiful   Christmas   and   now   summer   is   in   full-‐swing  here  in  South   Africa.    As  I  write  this  it  is  HOT  today,  and  I   wish  I  was  at  the  beach.    School  is  back  in   session  after  the  summer  holidays  and  the   Prince   home   seems   to   be   returning   back   to  normal.       Ubuntu   Football   is   running   again   after   an   amazing  three-‐day  camp  in  the  beginning   of   January   complete   with   high   ropes   courses.     They   boys   bonded,   had   a   blast,   and   the   Ubuntu   coaches   were   able   to   continue   defining   the   values   and   culture   of   their   unique   club.     Now   the   boys   are   all   in   session   at   their   new   schools   with   scholarships   from   the   Ubuntu   fundraiser   held   in   September.     It’s   a   new   world   for   these   boys   but   their   growth   over   this   next   year  will  be  incredible  to  watch!   Sarah’s  ministry  is  up  again  as  well,  as  the   Ocean   View   Methodist   youth   also   kicked   off   the   year   with   a   camp   –   with   Hillsong   Church.    The  kids  did  major  fundraising  to   earn  their  spot  and  were  really  ignited  by   the   camp.     Women’s   ministry   is   going   again   after   a   special   lecture   this   week   about   forgiveness   and   giving   yourself   a   ‘Fresh   Start’   in   God   (http://freshstartforallnations.org.).     This   year   for   Sarah   is   all   about   training   up   leaders   to   be   empowered   and   strong   in   new   ministry   and   leadership.     We   are   excited  about  all  God  has  in  store  for  our   family,   Ocean   View,   and   the   ministry   ahead!

OUR   KIDS
These  are  our  kids.    Top  left  is   Kieren  and  I  with  our   neighbor  Meagan,  bottom   left  are  our  neighbors  Tamia   and  Tameeka,  top  right  is   Kieren  with  another  neighbor   Ruzaika,  and  bottom  right  are   some  of  Casey’s  Ubuntu  boys.     These  are  OUR  kids.

We   had   a   very   interesting   month   with   our   ‘kids’  in  Ocean  View.    Our  home  continues   to   be   a   train   station   of   sorts   –   where   everyone   and   anyone   stops   by   to   hang   out   throughout   the   day  –   ESPECIALLY   the   kids.     December   and   early   January   were   very   busy   with   these   children   as   they   were   out   of   school   for   summer   holidays   and  with  working  and  absent  parents  they   were  all  bored  out  of  their  MINDS,  which   meant   they   came   to   the   Prince   home   VERY  OFTEN.    We  know  this  now,  and  try   to   really   embrace   the   time   with   the   kids,   and   through   the   years   we   have   really   formed   some   strong   relationships   with   these   little   ones.     This   year   Kieren   and   I   spent  a  great  deal  of  time  with  Tamia  and   Tameeca  (bottom  left  picture),  as  they  are   neighbors   and   their   mother   is   a   new   Christian.     We   love   these   girls;   Tameeca   the   crazy   and   rowdy   one   and   Tamia   the   more   responsible   and   strong   child.     We   are   watching   them   grow   and   learn   and   the   journey   their   mother,   Thyrza,   is   on   brings   me   constant   encouragement   and   inspiration.

January   was   a   difficult   month   with   some   major   head   trauma.     I   was   on   the   scene   kids   as   a   group   broke   into   our   home   one   after  it  happened,  prayed  for  her  and  her   afternoon   in   Dec.   and   stole   candy   and   a   parents   right   in   the   street,   went   to   the   present   from   under   the   Christmas   tree.     hospital,   and   have   helped   Meagan   We   never   got   the   full   story,   as   it   was   recover.     My   answer   has   come   that   it’s   mostly  some  rebellious  little  kids  that  live   not   about   the   programs   or   progress   that   in   the   ‘flats’   across   the   street,   but   were   we   can   measure   in   these   kids,   it’s   the   HEARTBROKEN  that  our  dear  kids  we  have   RELATIONSHIPS   we   have   with   them   that   invested   SO   MUCH   in,   Meagan   and   sister   are   deep   as   family,   and   matter   the   most   Jadine  and  Kyle,  were  there  too  and  didn’t   in  the  worst  and  best  days.    These  are  my   stop  it.    It  brought  up  a  lot  of  emotions  for   KIDS.    NO  matter  what.   me  and  made  me  question  our  two  years   of   time   with   Follow  our  stories  weekly     these   kids   –   on  our  blogs   Be  a  part  of  the   does   it   all   www.looklistenlove.org     really   matter?     ADVENTURE  of  AFRICA!   and   My   answer   www.ubuntusports.blogspot.com   from   God   came   a   To support the Prince couple   weeks   family ministry send later   when   donations to ‘Acts of Meagan   (12   Grace’ c/o Chris and years   old)   fell   off   a   moving   Karen Latta 1904 Clear milk  truck  and   Falls Court Raleigh, NC sustained
