This was an exciting week . Two presidential debates in South Carolina kept
the news rushing too quickly to produce a Newsletter mid-week. Newt Gingrich shined, as always, in the televised debates. During the Monday night event he received a standing ovation from the crowd, which sent supporters and the news media into a frenzy. By week’s end Newt was projected to win the South Carolina primary. Although Rick Santorum had a good showing and presented himself well, he is polling in last place, behind Ron Paul.
PERRY D ROPS OUT. ENDORSES NEWT. WILL CAMPAIGN AND SERVE.
Sources close to both campaigns tell me that the Governor and Speaker have spoken and Governor Perry will endorse Newt Gingrich. But it will go beyond that. I’m told reliably that Governor Perry will head up a 10th Amendment project for Speaker Gingrich to rally Governors and state legislators toward a plan of devolving power from Washington. This project will include helping shape the Republican platform for the general election, something small government conservatives have been concerned about. Governor Perry will also campaign for Speaker Gingrich in Texas. Texas has more than enough delegates at 155 (they are proportional) to offset Newt Gingrich not being on the Virginia ballot, which only has 49 delegates. Carroll County Tea Party Association

Newt gets Standing Ovation
Just after Monday’s debate, Newt is interviewed by Hannity. They discuss the statement by Frank Luntz that in his 16 years of debates, he had never seen a standing ovation. Newt received the standing ovation when he stated that Americans believe in work. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTDP5-7OTj4

SOPA and PIPA explained
There's a war being waged over what you can see on the Web. Two bills, Stop Online Piracy Act and Protect IP Act, are seeking to limit copyright infringement online, and the web is in revolt.. The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) is the House bill; Protect IP Act (PIPA) is its Senate sister. Both focus on foreign websites that pirate movies, music, and other materials from the U.S. (sites that many Americans use -- an INDUSTRY STUDY has noted that 17.5% of all bandwidth in the U.S. is taken up by illegal downloads.)
That may sound sensible, but many media companies operating online think the language is too vague in terms of defining what constitutes piracy; feel the bills don't define who is responsible for making sure illegal material from foreign sites isn't showing up on U.S. sites; and think the legislation imposes sanctions that are too heavy-handed. Read the entire article: http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/upshot/sopa-pipa-explained-224145972.html On Wednesday, Senator Marco Rubio of Florida showed again why he is a real leader and listener within the conservative movement. HE IS DROPPING HIS CO-SPONSORSHIP of Protect IP. I hope other Republicans in the Senate follow his leadership on this issue. and please call Senator Rubio’s office and thank him for his leadership. His number is (202) 224-3041. We often fight. We should also often say thanks. On Friday, both the Senate and House returned the bills to committee.
Rick Perry’s Final Act: King Maker?
He can end his campaign now and leave a hero or stay in till Sunday and be a spoiler. Posted by Erick Erickson Barring a miracle, this is Rick Perry’s final act in the 2012 elections. On Saturday, he will come in last in South Carolina. It will be only the third time in a generation Rick Perry has lost an election, with the only other two times being Iowa and New Hampshire this year. For a generation, Rick Perry was undefeated. Now he will go back to Texas and everyone who ever lost to Rick Perry will seek to settle old scores. It will be a tough, bloody fight. He will have to be ready for it. Perry, however, has a potential trump card up his sleeve as he rebuilds political capital. It’s simple: he can drop out today, and endorse someone else. Doing so today, before the CNN Debate tomorrow, gives the news time to sink in. But who to endorse? Mitt Romney makes no sense. To endorse Romney would be to turn Perry’s message throughout the campaign into a joke. It would buy Perry no good will. He would return to Texas a joke. Rick Santorum makes no sense either. While closer to Perry than Romney on some points, Perry campaigned on reducing the size and scope of Washington, privatizing social security, and fixing entitlements. Endorsing Santorum may leave Perry in good stead with his fellow evangelicals, but it would fly in the face of the limited government principles he outlines both on the campaign trail and in his national bestseller Fed Up! Then there is the man who wrote the introduction to Fed Up!, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich.
Heritage Foundation warns of threat to your property rights
IF YOU READ NOTHING ELSE - READ THE HERITAGE FOUNDATION ARTICLE BELOW. A number of Tea Party/912/Conservative organizations have joined forces to inform the public about a real threat to our property rights, in the form of United Nations Agenda 21 ___________________________________________________________________ In a nutshell, Agenda 21 is an attempt by the environmental extremists to return the earth back to nature, by either buying up or condemning private property for green space. And according to the Heritage Foundation, they are well on their way to doing it! There are two problems with this plan, (1) it tramples on our property rights, because if they can’t buy your property, they will condemn it, and (2) it is supported by President Obama and therefore carries the full force of the Federal Government. ____________________________________________________________________
On Jan 28th there will be a seminar at the Doubletree Hotel in Marietta about Agenda 21. The Georgia Leadership Coalition, consisting of a number of Tea Party/912/Conservative organizations are sponsoring this event. The main speaker will be TOM DEWEESE. This will be a great opportunity for you to not only learn more about the subject, but to network with other tea party members and elected officials. This threat is real, it’s not pie in the sky, and was written about by the Heritage Foundation (see Article # 1) and the American Policy Center (see Article # 2 for the “tip of the iceberg” bullet points about Agenda 21) Please invite all your friends to attend, as this is something everyone should know about. Morning Bell: Agenda 21 and the Threat in Your Backyard
Mike Brownfield December 5, 2011
Ready to trade in your car for a bike, or maybe a subway instead? Interested in fewer choices for your home, paying more for housing, and being crammed into a denser neighborhood? You can have all this and more if radical environmentalists and “smart growth” advocates have their way and local, state, and the federal government impose the policies set forth in the United Nations’ Agenda 21. You might have heard of this nefarious-sounding policy in a recent Republican presidential debate, but even if you haven’t, here’s some background information: Agenda 21 is a plan adopted at the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development. It calls on governments to intervene and regulate nearly every potential impact that human activity could have on the environment. The end goal? Getting governments to “rethink economic development and find ways to halt the destruction of irreplaceable natural resources and pollution of the planet.” As adopted, Agenda 21 was described as “a comprehensive plan of action to be taken globally, nationally and locally by organizations of the United Nations System, Governments, and Major Groups in every area in which human impacts on the environment.” That includes hundreds of specific goals and strategies that national and local governments are encouraged to adopt. And that translates into restrictive zoning policies that are aimed at deterring suburban growth. Ultimately, they suppress housing supply and drive up home prices, in turn imposing unnecessary costs, especially on middle- and lower-income households. These policies contributed to and aggravate the real estate bubble by putting inflationary pressures on housing prices. In the United States, smart-growth policies started in California and Oregon but then spread around the country to “deter suburban growth for all but the well-to-do,” as Cox, Utt, and Schaefer explain. They also write that those policies were not without detrimental impact:
As they became more prevalent and restrictive, their impact on housing prices and construction likewise expanded. An explosion of exclusionary zoning throughout the U.S. encouraged many communities to adopt zoning policies to ensure that they maintained a certain demographic ‘profile.’ Such zoning limited real estate development to higher-cost homes in order to ‘price out’ moderate-income households, which included a disproportionate share of minorities.
Where do these home-grown smart-growth policies stand today? The Obama Administration has embraced them while also increasing environmental regulations and restrictions on the use of natural resources. But the White House isn’t the only one behind the smart-growth movement. Local and state officials, along with interest groups, are promoting the policies at all levels of government. And that’s where smart growth must also be thwarted. It’s not just a matter of standing against the implementation of Agenda 21 at the national level; it’s also about protecting our own backyards against the home-grown threat. Rumors have it that today's ruling on Obama's attempt to quash a subpoena requiring him to appear at an administrative law hearing on January 26, 2012 now puts President Obama in quite the legal entanglement. For those of you not aware, Georgia election law has some specific elements in it with regards to who can be qualified to appear on a ballot. We're not interested in mirroring articles already written regarding this issue, but here is one you can read to catch-up:
Obama's inclusion on Georgia ballot challenged
Now, the LIBERTY LEGAL FOUNDATION is the one wielding the legal work on behalf of a Georgia citizen who is going by the strict wording of OCGA law to challenge Obama's credentials, mainly through the challenge of him not fitting the legal definition of what constitutes a "natural-born citizen." After the hearing date was set for January 26th, Obama's Georgia-designated Defense Attorney Michael Jablonski filed a motion to quash the subpoena filed with him to deliver to President Obama. The decision today by the judge officially rejected Jablonski's attempt to befuddle the administrative law judge with such claims as "If enforced, this [subpoena to require Obama to appear in a courtroom on January 26, 2012] requires him to interrupt duties as President of the United States" to attend a hearing in Atlanta. The judge's response to this claim was "Defendant [Obama] has failed to cite any legal authority that enlightens the Court" as to why Obama should not be compelled to appear in person at the hearing to prove his status as a natural-born citizen. Obama's motion to quash the subpoena served him was denied. Unless a more creative attorney for Obama can come-up with a more creative way to challenge the subpoena, Obama gets to attend a hearing in Atlanta...or, be faced with a bench warrant. HERE'S

Frank Luntz' focus group picks one winner--Newt Gingrich! "He brought passion to the conversation and an absolute command of the issues. He knows what he is talking

"He doesn't seem like a Washington insider." "He gives intelligent answers that are direct and to the point." "I want him to take on President Obama just like he took on the media." "That is what I am really excited about, seeing him debate President Obama." "He was in control because he literally had every answer to every question through his history."
Five Ways Conservatives Will Have to Sell Their Souls if Romney Wins.
Written By: John Hawkins Here’s an excerpt from the column. If you were trying to come up with the most atrocious candidate imaginable to go toe-to-toe with Barack Obama in 2012, you couldn't do much better than Mitt Romney. He was an unpopular moderate governor who lost 2 out of the 3 major elections he’s run in and whose signature issue Romneycare is an enormous failure. Moreover, he’s so uninspiring that he makes Bob Dole look like Ronald Reagan and that’s before you consider his incessant flip-flopping that makes it impossible to really know where he stands on any issue. Romney’s candidacy also runs counter to almost every political trend in the book right now. He’s the antithesis of everything the Tea Party stands for — a moderate establishment-endorsed, principle-free Rockefeller Republican. On the other hand, he’s like a bad guy straight out of central casting for the Occupy Wall Street crowd, a conscience-free 1 percenter who makes $10,000 bets and lectures the public about how corporations are people — while hordes of poor and middle class Americans that he fired trail in his wake telling tales of woe about how Romney made their lives into a living hell. At one time, I thought both Gingrich and Perry were more electable than Romney. I have, however, reassessed and now believe Gingrich, Perry, Santorum, and even Huntsman, who just left the race, are ALL more electable than Mitt. It’s also worth noting that all of those candidates, including Huntsman, are more conservative than Romney. It’s mind-boggling to consider the fact that if Romney wins, the conservative base will have chosen the guy behind Romneycare over the man behind the Contract with America, America’s premier social conservative, and the best job-creating governor in America, all of whom would also be more electable. Here we are in what may be, forgive me for the cliché, the most important election of our lifetimes and the GOP may end up choosing a candidate who’s one part Charlie Crist and one part John Kerry as our nominee. If that’s the case, conservatives should certainly vote for him over Obama. After all, Mitt Romney will undoubtedly often do the wrong thing if he becomes President, but Barack Obama will almost always fail the country. So Romney would definitely be the lesser of two evils. Yet and still, conservatives will probably have to pay a big price if Romney becomes the nominee. Barring an unforeseen miracle, we’re not going to see someone who was a third rate, unpopular moderate governor become a great, popular, and conservative President. The idea that Republicans in Congress will keep Romney in line isn’t borne out by anything that has happened in the last decade. During the Bush years, time and time again, conservatives in Congress abandoned their principles to follow Bush’s lead. It has been much the same under Obama. Many Democrats were willing to take votes that ended their careers because they felt compelled to stick by Barack. Mitt would have little to fear from the Tea Party or the rest of the conservative base either. After all, his thinking will be, if grassroots conservatives still had any sway in the Republican Party, he wouldn’t be the nominee. What are they going to do after he gets the nomination? Vote for Obama? Same goes if he gets elected. No matter how Nixonian Mitt turns out to be, conservatives will still view our own Massachusetts version of Arnold Schwarzenegger as preferable to whatever socialist the Democrats run against him in 2016.
