Online education, also known as distance learning or e-learning, differs from traditional education because students are not required to visit an actual classroom and listen to an instructor face-to-face. Online education is "a classroom without walls," says Dr. Stella Thompson, an online Assistant Professor of English at Prairie View A&M University. It's "engaging in assisted, self-directed learning online education takes away those time restraints by offering a completely virtual learning experience. Working adults can now continue their education, earn higher degrees, and earn more money by attending courses that primarily take place over the Internet.

Online education means students no longer have to: 1. quit their jobs to attend college, 2. take time off from work to attend a specific course, find a babysitter, 3. spend hours in rush hour traffic or drive 200 miles to the nearest University, 4. spend precious minutes looking for a parking space, and then 5. Waste more of those minutes walking from class to class. It also means students:
1. learn at their own pace, 2. gain more one-on-one access to their instructors, and

3. Learn degrees in less time than it would take to juggle traditional courses.

2. HOW ONLINE EDUCATION WORKS:

After researching the best accredited institution, students are required to apply to one of the college's degree programs. While most online courses are done using the above method, some courses are done during set times with more sophisticated programs, like the one Mrs. Strong-Millsap uses in her high school courses All Courses Are Not Created Equally Different programs require different levels of computer and/or Internet knowledge. Therefore, it is vital students take the time to speak with potential instructors, previous college students, and even the computer tech department to get a better understanding of the teaching methods and technology used. "Online instructors, like those teaching traditional courses, bring to their courses their own personal experiences, teaching objectives, and preferred methodologies. In addition, the institution's technology and technical support also influence learning experiences," says Dr. Thompson. "Some courses are text and content-focused, while other courses emphasize more technical skill and interaction with technology."

THE GOVERNMENT
The government of India has formulated many laws to protect the rights of women who are being ill-treated by their husbands and in-laws. But how many of these laws really help women gain custody of their children and protect their property? The womans husband and in-laws usually claim all the wealth and property and the custody of the child. At the end of the day, everything depends on the verdict of the judge. In case the lady is able to appoint an influential advocate, she may win the case, but this rarely happens. Nowadays, money and muscle power are used to obtain almost anything one desires.

ONLINE SCHOOLS

Wealthy individuals get away with almost everything; with no questions being asked. There are some women who even use these laws to their advantage and get all that they want from the husband and his family. Again, this also depends on the verdict of the judge. If the verdict is passed in favor of the wrong individual, an appeal has to be made again in a higher court and more money has to be spent.

In such a case, it is suggested that more judges from different parts of the country and from different religious backgrounds be appointed, so as to give the individuals a fair hearing and good judgment. This will also make it possible to reach a judgment without any delays. The six fundamental rights recognized by the constitution are: 1) Right to equality, including equality before law, prohibition of discrimination on Grounds of religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth, and equality of opportunity in matters of employment. 2) Right to freedom of speech and expression, assembly, association or union, movement, residence, and right to practice any profession or occupation (some of these rights are subject to security of the State, friendly relations with foreign countries, public order, decency or morality) 3) Right against exploitation, prohibiting all forms of forced labor, child labor and traffic in human beings; 4) Right to freedom of conscience and free profession, practice, and propagation of religion; 5) Right of any section of citizens to conserve their culture, language or script, and right of minorities to establish and administer educational institutions of their choice; and

3. COMPARISION BETWEEN ONLINE & TRADITIONAL CLASS he

Being aware of these differences and knowing what type of student you are, you may be able to find a program that allows you to get the most out of your education.

Communicating with Professors and Students One of the main differences between online education and in-person education is the type of relationship you develop with other students and professors. You may not get to know other students and professors as well as you would if you took in-person classes. Responding to Class Topics Since you're not in the classroom listening to a professor's lecture when you're taking online courses, You may also be able to develop your writing skills since you'll be expressing your ideas in these written formats. Taking More Initiative

These types of responses may require more involvement than would be required in a large lecture class because it's easy to remain anonymous or to sleep during class if you're sitting in a large lecture hall.

4. ONLINE SCHOOLS: TYPES

Not all online high schools are created equal. Private programs offer quality at a high price tag. Public online high schools educate students for free but arent available in all areas. Students can also earn a diploma at no cost from online charter schools. Private Online High Schools Private online high schools are not controlled by the government. Just like brick-andmortar private schools, private online high schools vary in terms of quality. Private schooling is generally the most expensive option and admission requirements. Public Online High Schools Many states are creating public online high schools. These schools are free to minor students in the state; many also lend students curriculum and computers at no cost. Almost all public online high schools meet basic state and national school requirements and are regionally accredited. When choosing an online public high school checks to see that the school is properly accredited and offers diplomas.

Online Charter Schools

University-Affiliated Online High Schools A growing number of universities are embracing the online high school movement. Because colleges want to protect their good name, university-sponsored programs generally offer high quality education. Costs, admission policies, and program requirements vary widely. Before enrolling in a university-sponsored online high school make sure the program is regionally accredited. Ask about the teachers qualifications and the potential to earn university-level credit.

5. ONLINE SCHOOLS: PROS

ONLINE SCHOOLS

ONLINE SCHOOLS

Online education can be a great way to earn college credits on your own schedule, but it's not for everyone. Explore some of the pros and cons of studying online to decide if a virtual learning environment is right for you. The Plus Side Cost and convenience are just a few of the major 'pros' for studying online. Scheduling Online education is very popular among students with jobs and families. While some courses include synchronous components such as Skype conferences with instructors, most allow students to complete coursework on their own schedules. Location You can take an online course anywhere you have a computer and an Internet connection. This perk is especially important for individuals living in remote or rural areas who can't relocate and don't want to commute hours to school Pacing Do you find yourself struggling to keep up with difficult or fast-paced courses? Many online programs will allow you to either finish your coursework entirely at your own pace or give you additional time above and beyond the average school term. Savings Tuition for online courses is often a little bit lower than traditional classroom courses because the overhead cost is lower for the teaching institution. Online students may also save money on activity fees and similar costs paid by on-campus students. There are also many 'hidden' savings associated with studying online. Most students save money on gas, parking or bus passes when they don't commute. Many students are also able to keep housing and food costs down when they're not tied to the location of a school or the schedule of a traditional student. Finally, many online courses give students access to e-textbooks or other digital materials that may cost less than traditional textbooks.

ONLINE SCHOOLS

ONLINE SCHOOLS

The Minus Side Online education may be sounding pretty good right about now, but it's important to remember that there can be significant drawbacks for some students.

Limited Instructor Interaction Some online programs give you the opportunity to use instant messenger or Skype to chat in real-time with your professors. But these conversations have to be scheduled and are usually far and few between compared to the daily face to face interactions you'll have in a traditional classroom. If you're a student who prefers large, anonymous lecture courses anyway, then this may not matter much to you. But if you're the kind of student who prefers smaller conferences and likes to ask a lot of questions, then you may find yourself struggling without these opportunities Limited Social Interaction
ONLINE SCHOOLS

ONLINE SCHOOLS

Since you're not studying in a traditional classroom, you'll also miss having face time with other students. This can deprive you of important networking opportunities for your future career, as well as basic social interaction. If you're hoping to make new friends or find future business partners - in school, consider taking at least a couple of your courses on campus. Tech-Savvy Required Most online programs deliberately keep their tech specs simple: A word processing program, a PDF reader and a computer and Internet connection fast enough for online learning tools. But these basic requirements hide the fact that most online education programs require students to navigate potentially complex virtual learning environments such as Blackboard or Model. 6. ONLINE SCHOOLS: CONS
Hanging technology may create barriers to accessing learning environments

As with new teaching methods, online learning has faced much criticism from many sources as they claim it has devalued post secondary education and will reduce the effectiveness of obtaining quality career positions by obtaining higher education. These skeptics claim many existing barriers to effectively learning complex subjects in an online-only setting. They also feel that it isolates the students from one another as well as their instructor reducing the overall value of taking the course. Some programs also offer a combination of online and classroom style teaching for the same course. This allows for the benefits of both types of learning to be realized. Limited understanding of effective teaching methods due to youth of online learning Due to the youth of online learning, there has been little research conducted to evaluate the teaching methods or the effectiveness of student comprehension through an online-only learning environment. Some programs also offer a combination of online and classroom style teaching for the same course. This allows for the benefits of both types of learning to be realized. The Campus Experience One of the chief disappointments in online universities is the lack of feeling part of a college campus community. A large portion of going to college is taking part in campus life, including living in dorms, studying with friends in the library, attending cultural programs and cheering on the school's sports teams. Interpersonal Communications

ONLINE SCHOOLS

ONLINE SCHOOLS

A real-life university or college gives the student an opportunity to communicate face to face with professors, staff and other students. An online college often reduces this vital intellectual dialogue to emails; the experience is just not the same. Accountability Traditional colleges and universities often require students to attend classes regularly and participate in class activities. In the online college world, this accountability factor is often missing. Recognition and Respect Despite the growing number of online colleges, many employers do not give as much weight to an online degree as a traditional college diploma. Family and friends also can sometimes ignore the online student's need for focused time for study and are more likely to interrupt and intrude than if the student were away from home on a college campus. While the online student may find the class work more convenient for his lifestyle and schedule, he can also find more frustration in trying to stick to the books. Computer Dependence One of the most overlooked negatives in online study is the student's complete dependence on a personal computer and maintenance of a high-speed Internet connection. Many online students find they are unexpectedly sabotaged when their computer breaks down and the time for repairs interferes with study and deadlines. The sudden expense for computer repairs also can be a drawback.

7. ONLOINE SCHOOLS: WHERE IN INDIA

Survey Results: 61% of students reported taking online courses Students who are highest risk for dropping out those working full-time, older, married, and/or with children were the most likely to turn to online courses as a way to balance time constraints. Effective online instruction depends on learning experiences appropriately designed and facilitated by knowledgeable educators. Because learners have different learning styles or a combination of styles, online educators should design activities that address their modes of learning in order to provide significant experiences for each class participant. In designing online courses, this can best be accomplished by utilizing multiple instructional strategies. Teaching models exist which apply to traditional higher education learning environments, and when designing courses for the online environment, these strategies should be adapted to the new environment. ONLINE COURSES AND MULTIPLE INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES

ONLINE SCHOOLS

ONLINE SCHOOLS

Traditionally, in a teacher-centered classroom, instructors control their environment because they have a monopoly on information. In an online course, with instant access to vast resources of data and information, students are no longer totally dependent on faculty for knowledge. As faculty are beginning to teach online, learning is becoming more collaborative, contextual and active. Educators must first design their curriculum, goals and objectives and then consider how the online environment can best serve the instructional objectives and activities of that curriculum. This requires changes in pedagogy, with instructors taking the role of facilitators of information while guiding students toward solutions. In order for online learning to be successful, teachers as well as learners must take on new roles in the teaching-learning relationship, and faculty must be willing to release control of learning to the students.

Online learning environments permit a full range of interactive methodologies, and instructors have found that in adapting their courses to online models, they are paying more attention to the instructional design of their courses. As a result, the quality, quantity, and patterns of communication students practice during learning are improved. Of the many instructional strategies available for use in the online learning environment, most have not been developed specifically for online instruction, but are currently used in traditional classrooms, and can be successfully adapted for facilitating online learning. Educators should choose instructional strategies that are most effective for accomplishing a particular educational objective. From this perspective, instructional strategies are tools available to educators for designing and facilitate learning. Below are ten instructional strategies which have been effectively used in the traditional classroom and can likewise be used in the online learning environment.

11. ONLINE SCHOOLS: CONCLUSION Success or Failure: Research Paper Conclusion of Distance Learning
There is no single research paper conclusion of distance learning which gives a final answer to the ongoing debate on the effectiveness of distance learning versus the traditional mode of teaching. While some people agree that distance learning has come a long way and opened new vistas in the field of education, some researchers are still questioning the value of learning through nontraditional means. Whatever is the case, there are various opinions to consider and they are all true in their own right.

ONLINE SCHOOLS

ONLINE SCHOOLS

The two arguments to consider: There are two schools of thoughts in this argument on the effectiveness of distance learning. While one considers virtual classrooms as a lonely, frightening places incapable of providing the right educational experience to the student and the teacher, there is another voice which supports distance learning. In their research paper conclusion of distance learning, many such scholars have written about the potential of distance learning if the technology being employed is utilized to its maximum. They see distance learning as a humanizing force, one which can bring together people from various walks of life. Dan Melzer of the Florida University conducted a research project on 20 online freshman courses to test if virtual classrooms are indeed as effective as conventional classrooms, at the end of his research he was pleasantly surprised to find that an online course could be as invigorating as a normal course, provided that the teachers know how to use the communication technology available to them. If managed well, a

ONLINE SCHOOLS

ONLINE SCHOOLS

virtual classroom can have constructive debates and discussions between students through real-time chat rooms. This thought is echoed by Mason and Kaye, who in their research paper conclusion of distance learning mention that online education offers a chance to build a sense of community amongst the participants, by encouraging collaborative learning and discussions. They also say that the most exciting aspect of distance learning is that it encourages collective thinking, socialization, and is by no means a lonely affair. Those considering the negative aspects of distance learning say that the asynchronous nature of online education takes some getting used to, moreover conducting a seamless discussion might not be possible because it is performed at various levels and speeds at different places. If a student is not familiar with technology, he might find it difficult to follow a discussion. Delayed responses and pending messages may further hinder group performances. Another researcher DR Garrison in his research paper conclusion of distance learning states that though distance education through online means may be collaborative learning, the challenge lies in understanding the technology in order to apply it to create new and more effective learning situations.
