I. MASTER'S PROGRAM (ZENKI-KATEI)

1.Efi@'bili& Requirements

(1) Completion, or expected completion by March 2008, of 16 years of formal education in one's home country or a country other than Japan. (2) Graduation, or expected graduation by March 2008, from a Japanese college or university. (3) Completion of a course of study recognized by the School of Engineering as the equivalent af graduation from a Japanese university.

Note: Please contact the Graduate School of Engineering prior to submittinc an a~~lication.

[Preliminary examination of eligibility] Students currently enrolled in the School of Engineering, those registered under the research student program, and those who plan to begin study as research students in the Graduate School of Engineering in October 2007 are not subject to prior examination. All other applicants must submit the following required documents to the Office of Student Affairs, Graduate School of Engineering by July 30 for examination application eligibility. Applicants will be natified of the results of the preliminary examination by August 17. The deadline for applicants who already prossess a college student visa is October 1. Such applicants will be notified of the results of the preliminary examination by October 17.

Required documents

1. RQsum6(curriculum vitae).

2. Copy of transcript (academic record) from university or graduate school.

3. Statement of purpose, which includes:

(1) Name of the department you wish to enroll in.

(2) Name of the professor whom you wish to be your adviser (Be sure to contact the professor prior to

submitting the documents for the Preliminary Examination of Eligibility).

(3) Statement ofpurpose (Specify what you wish to study at the Graduate School).

4. Letter of recommendation from the president or dean, department head, or a representative of such

persons at the university kom which the applicant graduated, or from the applicant's employer if

currently employed (no prescribed fond. 5. A certi6cate of proficiency in the Japanese language, written by the applicant's Japanese language

instructor or equivalent person. Applicants who have graduated from a Japanese university, or are expecting to graduate in March 2008 are not required to furnish such a certificate.

Note 1: Mechanical Engineering Science and Mechano-Informatics and Systems in the Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering are called the Mechano Group.

Successful applicants in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and in the Mechano Group of the Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering will be placed in individual sub-departments at the time of acceptance for admission to the university or in the time between acceptance and enrollment.

3. Application Procedures

Applicants must prepare on application package (documents) listed below and submit it together with an application fee of 30,000 yen (this application fee is not required from applicants with a Japanese Government Scholarship) to Office of Student Affairs, Graduate School of Enheerins. Nasova University, Furo-cho. Chikusa-ku. Nagova 464-8603. Applications must be submitted between October 29-November 2. 2007. Applications will be accepted Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 to 16:OO. The office is closed on Saturdays, Sundays and national holidays.

Application package (Documents must be written in Japanese or EogLsl~):

(1) Application form from the Graduate School of Engineeling. (2) Admission ticket for the Examination and Photograph. (3)Aphotograph (6X 4cm) taken within the last 3 months, af6xed to the photograph form (2).

(4) Diploma

or certificate of graduation or expected graduation from the applicant's undergraduate

university.

(5) A copy of the applicant's official transcript (academic record) from the undergraduate university he or she has attended (Applicants who have already submitted a copy to the office for the preliminary examination are exempted from this requirement). (6) Applicants currently studying under a Japanese Government Scholarship must provide a certificate proving such status (issued by the university at which the student is currently enrolled).

(7) Letter of recommendation from the president or dean, department head, or a representative of such persons, at the university from which the applicant graduated or from the applicant's employer if

currently employed (no prescribed form). (Applicants who have already submitted a letter to the office for the preliminary examination are exempted from this requirement). (8) Applicants currently studyiug at a Japanese university must supply a letter of recommendation from their present academic adviser.

(9) Three self-addressed envelopes: one for notification of acceptance or denial of application, one to send the examination registration card, and one for notification of enrollment procedures. One envelope (for the registration card) must have an 80 yen stamp &ed. Those who deliver the application in person need only bring two envelopes: one for notification of acceptance or denial of application, and one for notification of enrollment procedures. Note: Applicants may be requested to furnish further information, as required by the Graduate School of Engineering, after the application package has been received by the office.

4. Selection Method

(1) Academic Ability Examinations (Written and Oral) These wiU take place November 26-28,2007, between 9:00 and 17:OO. (a) Examination in applicant's specialized area ofstudy: The purpose of this examination is to determine whether or not the applicant has acquired the necessary foundation of knowledge in the target academic field for study at this level. Written test questions are provided in both Japanese and English. (b) Language test: Proficiency in English must be demonstrated. Japanese language proficiency wiU also be tested. Applicants wiU receive more information from the department office concerning the examination in their specialized area of study and the dates of the examinations.

5. Announcement ofSuccessful Candidates

Acce~tanceor denial of a~~licationswiU be a~ouncedon December 20. This information wiU be posted near the entrance to the office of the Graduate School of Engineering at noon on that day. Applicants wiU also be

notzed of the results by mail.

6. Enrolment Procedures

Successful applicants wiU be notijied of detailed enrollment procedures during the last part of February

2008.

7. Registration and 7%ition Fees

(1) Registration Fee: 8282,000 The Registration fee must be paid during the registration period. (2) Tuition: P267,900 per semester, 8535,800 per year Tuition must be paid by the semester. Tuition for the spring semester must be paid in April, and tuition for the fall semester in October. Payment by bank transfer is possible from the fall and subsequent semesters. In the event of a revision in the tuition fees, the new rate wiU be applied as effective from the date of revision. $X These registration and tuition fees are not required from applicants with a Japanese Government

Scholarship.

8. Additional nformation

(1)Physically handicapped applicants who need special assistance in taking the entrance examination and in conducting their studies should notify the office indicated in (4) below by October 22,2007. (2) No amendments to the documents in the application package will be allowed once the package has been received by the Office of Student Affairs, regardless of circumstances. The application fee cannot be refunded. (3) To obtain the Application Procedures Pamphlet, send a 390 yen self-addressed, stamped envelope (32X 24cm) with a letter stating the major of your preference. 9. Handling ofPersonal Idormation

Personal information such as address, name, date of birth and so forth shall only use for admission selection, announcement of successfid candidates, enrollment procedures and other related purposes. The acquired personal information will be kept appropriately and shall not be used for any other purposes.
