Dear Carthage Community Legacy Planning Member: to first at The Carthage Central School District Board of Education and I would like to invite you participate in a meeting and discussion that is meant to be a follow-up to the District’s Legacy Planning Summit held last June. This meeting is scheduled for February 8, 2012 Robert Hendriks, from the
6:30 p.m. in the Carthage Middle School cafeteria. Educational Legacy Planning Group will be the facilitator.
The District spent the last six months looking at ways to implement many of the ideas and suggestions that have been heard throughout the process. Hundreds of residents listened to presentations made to the Board of Education as the process evolved into a potential plan and finally into a real concept. At this time, we would like you to participate in a “mid-year check” to assess how far we have come. We always envisioned the Legacy Planning Process to be an ongoing activity, with the Summit becoming an annual event. But at this critical juncture, the Board of Education needs to make some decisions that will affect education, operations and finances for decades to come. While many of you have heard the concepts and ideas discussed or have read about them in the newspaper or on the web, we would like to spend time explaining the evolution of the process that got us to where we stand today. With your continued input, ideas, and support, we can begin moving forward with what may culminate into a spring referendum. While no final decisions have been made, much collaborative work has been put into the proposed concept and we are excited to share this with you before the Board of Education makes a final decision. We have established a dedicated website for the Legacy Planning at www.carthagelegacyplan.info. Much of the information found there can be downloaded for your convenience. Please review before the February 8th meeting. Thank you once again for your willingness to help us plan for the future with confidence in the collective wisdom of our community. Sincerely,
