Palmina 2010 Arneis Honea Vineyard 750 ml IWC 90 Anjou pear, clementine peel, spicy notes of white sage, and nuances of brazil nut. Rich flavours are enveloped by lifting acidity and creaminess. BARBERA Palmina 2009 Barbera Santa Barbara County 750 ml IWC 90 The roundness found on the nose is overtaken on the first sip by bright acidity, red raspberry, sour cherry, and cran-cherry layers with tea-like soft tannins, a hint of tar, and red plum. BORDEAUX BLEND Ramey 2008 Napa Valley “Rouge” 750 ml WS 92 IWC 91 RP 90 Soft and beguiling with a smoky, earthy floral thing going down. Mocha, cassis, licorice. “Suave tannins” and richness. And, sadly, not as much to go around this year. 3 cs left CABERNET SAUVIGNON Elodian by Tom Eddy 2007 Napa Cabernet Sauvignon 750 ml Medium-bodied, rather smooth, and approachable. An abundant of blackberry and cherry with moderate oak tannins that are well managed and persistent. Mantra 2008 Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon 750 ml It seems like we are always scrambling to keep this Cab in stock. Perhaps it’s the overachieving nature of this Sonoma Cab trying to hang with its Napa neighbours. Word is Delish! MOBIUS 2009 Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon 750 ml A fruit-forward Cab bursting with deep dark blackberry, currant, mulberry, caramel, and spice. † Ramey 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Jericho Canyon Vyd 1500 ml WS 89 IWC 94 RP 95 Powerful! CHARDONNAY CRU 2008 Chardonnay 750 ml Green apple, honey, white peach, and lots of tropical fruit-like pineapple in the nose give way to flavours of the same on the palate with additional layers of melon, hazelnut, and a distinct minerality. Neyers 2010 304 (Stainless) Chardonnay 750 ml IWC 89 Wonderfully aromatic with a touch of lemon zest and ripe pear. It’s crisp and fresh with loads of flavour. Ramey 2009 Russian River Chardonnay 750 ml IWC 92 Tanzer says this “comes across like a California version of a premier cru from Chassagne-Montrachet.” A hint of truffle, hint of smoke, lots of orchard fruit, and clean acidity. DOLCETTO Palmina 2010 Santa Barbara Dolcetto 750 ml IWC 89 The Ferrari of pizza wine! It’s nice to have wines that ask only that you simply enjoy rather than have to get all cerebral about them. Delectable Dolcetto, as playful as it is pleasurable. PINOT NOIR Brewer-Clifton 2009 Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir 750 ml Layers of red berry, rhubarb, and strawberry are buoyant amidst tannins, lingering spice, balancing acidity, and persistence. Great introduction to the house style. Copain 2009 Pinot Noir “Tous Ensemble” 750 ml WS 88 IWC 90 Dark cherry, cinnamon, hints of warm spice, and a pliant texture. Seamless, classy, with excellent pedigree. CRU 2008 Pinot Noir 750 ml Rich garnet in hue, this is classic Central Coast Pinot Noir. Cola, black cherry, dried rose petal, and bramble all come through at first whiff. † Small Vines 2008 Pinot Noir MK Vineyard 750 ml WS 90 IWC 92 A wily temptress if ever there was one. The texture, the brilliance, the precision of this Pinot are deftly poised on bracing minerality, which is unveiled in its layers. * Small Vines 2008 Russian River Pinot Noir 750 ml WS 88 IWC 90 Velvety textured, exotic, intriguing. Ripe black and red berry fruit dance amidst Small Vines’ hallmark acidity. If you can exercise restraint and not knock back the bottle, patience will be rewarded (the key word is IF). SYRAH Jaffurs 2010 Santa Barbara Syrah 750 ml WE 92 Velvety smooth and complex, mixing sweet blue fruit with darker spices and minerals. * Kongsgaard 2006 Napa Syrah 750 ml IWC 92-95 RP 95 Rich sweet black fruit, espresso, hints of black olive, and roast meat. Dense, sweet, and savoury palate lively and intense. Absolutely incredible! Domaine du Salvard 2010 Pinot Noir “Unique” 750 ml Plenty of charm and emminently drinkable. Domaine du Salvard 2010 Sauvignon Blanc “Unique” 750 ml Ebulliently fresh, almost upliftingly youthful. 100% SB from just outside the Cheverny AOC. Flavours are soft and piquant. Pouilly Fumé Régis Minet 2009 Pouilly Fumé “Vielles Vignes” 750 ml WS 90 RP 88 Lively SB that shows the concentration of its old vines, rounded out by nice, sweet fruit skipping in the background with distinct minerality. Redefining Cheap, the Barrel Select Way!
“I have had the privilege of managing some of the biggest and best wine cellars in Toronto over the last two decades. If I had a nickel for every btg Cab Sauv, Merlot, Syrah, etc., that has been put before me over the years that disappointed, I'd have a castle in the Caymans. Conversely, had I had the opportunity to purchase and serve the Ready to Pour wines from Barrel Select over the years, I'd own the islands.” Chris Papamandjaris
