Our Staff
Maclary Staff uses the Positive Behavior Support Program in order to foster students' responsibility for their education and behavior. Our PTA supports PBS
by providing funds and manpower for special monthly rewards. Maclary staff provides opportunities for students to participate in talent development classes
and enrichment activities, instrumental and string lessons, chorus, curriculum related field trips, assemblies, and after school enrichment and support
classes. Special education services are provided based on individual student need and foster inclusion in the general curriculum as appropriate. Struggling
students have additional opportunities for support through reading resource, mentoring, intervention classes, and guidance. We are fortunate to house
Wings for Learning Preschool Program for three and four year old children. Students participate in classes and activities to foster academic growth and
strengthen motor skills. YMCA before/after care is offered.

Growth Model (2010-2011) Original Model (2010-2011)
Only groups with greater than 40 students are reported
Curriculum is designed to ensure that all students meet/exceed state standards in all subject areas. Maclary staff implements a daily 90 minute literacy block
offering students a diverse approach to reading and text-based writing. The use of our classroom libraries fosters a love of reading and improves student
fluency. Math Connects Program is used at all grade levels. Students explore methods for problem solving; use manipulatives to facilitate understanding of
numbers, number sense, and computation; communicate mathematically; and learn to relate Math to daily life. Science lessons at all grade levels are
presented using the Smithsonian kits. Students at each grade level explore three or four topics extensively through experimentation. Staff teaches students
a variety of graphic organizers to aid in the development of their writing skills. Comprehensive staff development and Professional Learning Communities
are on-going to ensure that staff continue to use best practices.
