Traditions Dual Safety System incorporates two safeties, making equipped break actions some of the safest muzzleloaders available. The trigger block safety is the most apparent as it is positioned on the trigger guard, like many centerfire rifles. The second safety is less obvious at first glance. This is an internal hammer block safety that prevents the hammer from engaging the firing pin unless it has been manually cocked. The combination of these two safety systems allow you to break open the rifle and remove your live primer without having to depress your hammer. Allowing the safest depriming of a fully loaded muzzleloader.

At Traditions , all guns are made with safety and performance in mind. Traditions load most of their muzzleloaders with three top-of-the-line safety features. The primary safety component on them is the Dual Safety System. The Dual Safety System incorporates two safeties, making firearms equipped with this feature among the safest available. A trigger block safety is built into the trigger guard, just like many rifles and shotguns. The second safety is built into the hammer and blocks the firing pin from contacting the primer if the trigger has not been pulled. This Dual Safety System, coupled with the standardized location of the breech lever, help make safety a primary feature on TraditionsTM firearms.

Union Army soldiers relied on many different types of sidearms for short range and close quarters combat. The revolver was unique in that it had the ability to fire several rounds per minute before having to reload. Revolvers were typically issued to officers and mounted soldiers, however some were purchased privately or found on the battlefield by infantrymen. This revolver was popular with law enforcement officers of the Old West. Reliability coupled with the short five inch barrel made this the choice for fast handling and accurate shooting. Although the resourcefully equipped Confederate soldier could not compete with Union repeating rifles, it was a different story when it came to revolvers. These handguns did not typically require a special type of ammunition, making them easy for Southern troops to acquire and operate. The brass frame Navy Type revolvers are identified with the Confederate manufacturers Griswold & Gunnison, and Leech & Rigdon. Brass was used for the frames because of the scarcity of iron in the United States. They were modeled after the Colt Navys and feature a blued 7 1/2 octagon barrel. This six shot single action Reb Confederate revolver was one of the most widely used. Originally offered in .36 Caliber this replica FR185115 .44 Caliber is offered in .44. This Confederate Pistol was born of a need for the South to arm itself. The .36 caliber revolver was adopted as the standard revolver of the Confederate Government. The Spiller & Burr was modeled after the Whitney Revolver with only a few minor adjustments. During the Southern campaign only 1,500 revolvers were actually made making them very hard to find and desirable. This replica is perfect for re-enactments or display. Known for their fine craftsmanship and rarity, the J.H. Dance Company Revolver was one of many southern revolvers that came to be after the Souths call to arms. These pistols were based off the Colt Dragoon and were manufactured in Texas for just 3 short years (1862-1865) with less than 400 actually being produced. The single action 6 shooter was originally available in .36 and .44 calibers. This fully functioning replica is available in .44 cal and is perfect for re-enactments, display or fun. Snap caps are made to protect your firearms by relieving the stress on your firing pins and firing pin springs. When you safely store your unloaded gun, put a snap cap in the chamber and fire your gun to allow the firing pin to lay at rest. This will help prevent firing pins from breaking in the future.
