Title
Cock-a-Roaches!

Abstract
You notice cockroaches on your kitchen counter. It’s up to you to kill them.

Concept
Quick-paced action in an everyday problem. Player can be either male or female.

Overview
You are armed with only your hand and the occasional “Raid” spray to kill the cockroaches (by squashing or spraying) on your kitchen counter. This is a top-down “arcade style” game. The gameplay is quick and you must be as well.

Selling Points:
1. 2. 3. 4. A simple game that is also fun. Cartoon graphics for a comedic experience. Fast-paced action for gamers of all levels. Everyday problem in a relatable plot.

Background Story
You have recently moved from a house infested with cockroaches and are all settled in your new one. It is night time and you have decided to go downstairs for a bottle of water. You have gone into your kitchen and have turned on the lights, only to see that cockroaches have assembled on top of your kitchen counter. It turned out you did not check your stuff as well as you should have. You were not about to let them take over this house. You did nothing to stop them before and that has changed. You decided to fight back against the cockroaches, having no time to get a napkin to cover your hand. You can only use your hand and a nearby can of “Raid” spray to kill them, as time is of the essence. There are two possible outcomes:

1) You kill them all and stop a would be infestation in your new home and (cliché incoming) live happily ever after. 2) You don’t kill them all and they escape and form a colony in your new home; thus, making the move costly and pointless (you lose).

Kill all of the roaches

YES

NO

Stop a would be infestation of your new home

Time to move again, the roaches have taken over

Objective
Kill all of the cock roaches on the counter and stop an infestation.

Gameplay
Point-and-click on the roaches to kill them. The combo of roaches that you kill will earn you time with the “Raid” spray. Note: Cursor will be a hand and spray will be a spray can. How far the game goes is up to the skill of the player. At first the roaches will move extraordinarily fast and killing all of them in the first level is a matter of skill. How good you are will be based on how many levels it took for the player to kill all of them. In layman's terms, the higher the level: the slower the roaches. If all of the simple roaches

are killed, then the “queen” roach comes in and it becomes a boss fight. She will spew new roaches onto the playing field and those must be killed before hurting her. Can of Spray: This is a special weapon depending on how many combos of roach kills the player gets in a certain time frame. Spray can is devastating, think of it as a nuclear bomb for roaches. Balancing: Can of “Raid” spray can only be used at certain points, such as too many roaches escaping or in dire need such as the queen boss fight. Onscreen text will alert player to danger of losing and allow the use of “WMDs.”

Audio
Sound Effects: Slap sounds and squishing sounds. Crunching sounds maybe made by smashing chips. Squishing sounds maybe generated by squeezing a ketchup bottle’s ketchup out. Music: Fast paced 8-bit techno, with a specific fast paced tune for the success of killing them all and a slow/sad failure tune for the “if they escape” scenario. The kind of tune that makes the player feel disappointed. Storyboards:

Plot: It’s been a tough one. Your home has been overrun with roaches and now you’re moving to a new habitable home. You pack up all your stuff and get ready to go. You do not notice any roaches lurking inside of your things. You take all your stuff to your new home and begin to unpack. Little do you know that some roaches have already started to leave your stuff and enter your new home. When you are all done packing, you decide to hit the hay, but not before going downstairs to get a bottle of water. Then you notice them; the revolting creatures that they are, assembling on your kitchen counter. You decide to act and start mercilessly killing them with your hands. You also notice a can of spray that you used prior to moving and destroy them even further with that. You totally annihilate them and when you’re sure that there is none left, you go back upstairs. In bed and ready to turn off the light, when you notice something creeping on your bedroom desk… *cliffhanger*
