LEARNING CONTENT: 1. Factual information about interesting places in Malaysia. 2. Format of brochure. LANGUAGE FOCUS: 1. Simple present tense. 2. Teacher-student activity WHEEL OF FORTUNE 1. Teacher divides the students into three groups according to their seating row. 2. In turn, each group will send a representative to spin the wheel and the respective group will be shown a picture of interesting places in Malaysia. 3. If the group can guess the picture correctly, they will get the point as pointed on the wheel. 4. Group with the most point wins.

Teaching aids 1. Wheel of fortune made from cardboard. 2. Pictures of interesting places in Malaysia.

Presentation 1. Teacher tells the students that they are going to make a brochure to promote interesting places in Malaysia as shown in the pictures from the wheel of fortune game. 2. Teacher shows an example of brochure to the students. Teacher asks the students if they have ever seen a brochure and where do they usually see it.

In pairs, the students read the passage quietly and underline the information about the location, main attractions of KLCC and fun activities to do at KLCC while reading the passage. 8. Teacher asks a few students to fill in the table on the whiteboard with the information that they have underlined. 9. Teacher models to the students how to make a brochure by folding a manila card into three parts. 10. Teacher models to the students how to create a brochure using the information from the table.

3. Teacher highlights the important things that should be in their brochure: y Location y Main attractions y Fun activities to do.

11. Teacher models how to write the sentences to describe fun activities to do at KLCC based on the information they get from the passage. The sentences must start with the phrase Visitors can.... Practice INFORMATION HUNT 12. Teacher tells the students that they will play Information Hunt in order to find the information needed for the brochure. 13. The students are divided into groups of three. 14. Teacher emphasizes to students that they will only be given 10 minutes to get all the information and the teacher will blow the whistle when the time is up. 15. Teacher explains to students how to play the information hunt. 16. Each group is assigned one interesting place and is given a table for them to fill in the information on location, main attractions and fun activities to do at the place assigned to them. 17. Each group has to find information about the place assigned to them (location, main attractions, and fun activities to do).

18. The first information (location) will be pasted on the class s wall. The clue for the second information is written at the back of the first information and the clue for the third information is written at the back of the second information. 19. Once the students have collected all the information, they have to fill in their table with the correct information. 20. All of the information is marked by the picture of the place. The students use their previous knowledge from the wheel of fortune game to identify the right information for their group. 21. The group that has completed their table will sit back at their table and write three sentences about the fun activities to do. Production 22. The group that has all the information in their table will be given a manila card. 23. The students fold the manila card into three parts and create a brochure using the information from their table. Post (5minutes) 1. The students decorate the cover of their brochure. 2. The group that has finished their brochure can paste their brochure on the whiteboard. 1. *Remark: if the students could not


finish decorating the cover of their brochure, they can continue doing it in the next lesson.

3. Teacher concludes the lesson by inviting the students to recall what they have learned and done in today s lesson.
