Jim s Vacation Jimmy was so excited because he and his family were going on vacation the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Jimmy was in 4th grade and had been learning about the different sights to visit on the coast. Jimmy always enjoyed nature and liked to do things with others. Jimmy had an older brother named Tom that was in 7th grade and always liked being by himself. He did not want to go on vacation, but would rather stay home and play video games. Jimmy said, This vacation is going to be boring. The boys usually spend time together when playing basketball. The first thing Jimmy wanted to do when he arrived was to visit the beach. He took his shoes on and stuck his feet in the sand. It had been a long time since he had been able to smell that salty air. The next thing Jimmy wanted to do was to visit the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. He had never been before, but was very curious to see it since he learned about the lighthouse being moved. He climbed the many stairs and was able to see a very long ways off. After he visited the lighthouse, he was eager to visit the Wright Brothers Memorial (in Kill Devil Hills). He remembers learning about the first flight that took place in December of 1903. He was able to climb the hill to visit the monument. These were just a few of the things Jimmy did while he was at the Outer Banks. Jimmy thought this was the best vacation ever. He cannot wait to go back and visit some of these important landmarks.
