According to the New York Times, suicide is often associated with people suffering from bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, depression, schizophrenia and drug dependence. Suicide is the eleventh cause of deaths in the United States according to the National Institute of Mental Health. Though suicide may be defined as an intentional injury inflicted upon one's self to end his or her life, most attempts on suicide do not end in death and mostly reflects a cry for help.This relates to common suicide cases which usually stems from traumatic life events and emotional problems. Medical reports say that almost 32,000 people in the United States die because of suicide. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention defines suicide as a serious public health problem that can have lasting harmful effects on individuals, families and communities. It produced a crippling effect for people to reach out to their loved ones and restore their relationships and a good grasp on the good life. The World Health Organization (WHO) cited six possible ways which may serve as an effective strategy and intervention for the prevention of suicide. Such framework enumerate effective treatment for mental disorders, control of gun possession, detoxification of domestic gases, detoxification of car emissions, control of availability of toxic substances and toning down reports in the media. The WHO have been spearheading advocacies for the prevention of suicide as it declares that it has spread in the United States and has had affected more victims over the years. As depression claims more and more victims, many patients are at risk for committing suicide.
