Print In The Joy of Reading and Writing: Superman and Me, Sherman Alexie shares his story of being a poor Indian kid growing up but remembering how his dad provided him books to read and how this really helped him develop into a strong reader and writer. In Sponsors of Literacy, Deborah Brandt argues that people don't just become literate on their own, instead they are sponsored by people or institutions that help form the way people learn to read and write. She has many interviews that I am going to use as examples in my article about how sponsors shaped their life. I also am going to use her article to prove my point that everyone needs to have some type of sponsor to become a successful reader/writer.

I think this will be a very good article to cite in my paper because it has a lot to do with what I am talking about with my research. I am going to use this definition in my paper to better help people understand what it means. Strahan, Nick. Junior at Ohio University. History Major Nick is a good source to use in my paper because he was motivated by something different then any of my examples I am using in my paper. He also had many literacy sponsors growing up. He was a very competitive person and always wanted to be the best in his class. This motivation led him to being a very strong reader and writer and he still enjoys doing both even at this age. Print In The Autobiography of Malcolm X, Malcolm X shares with us his motivations and his sponsors when it comes to learning how to read and write. Some of the sponsors he had
were all of the books and the prison he was in. His motivation to read and write came from his fuel of being told he couldn't amount to anything by an eighth grade teacher. I am going to use this article as a main point in my paper and use his story of sponsors as a focal point in my paper.
