MV Network Management - Easergy range

Flair 21D - 22D - 23D

Self-powered fault passage indicators

Easergy Flair 21D - 22D - 23D is a line of DIN-format, compact-size, efficient, self-powered fault passage indicators.

n At the leading edge of technology, they are

used on directly earthed, resistive neutral underground MV networks (detection of earth faults) and on all networks (detection of overcurrent).

n Self-powered, they ensure uninterrupted

detection and indication of the passage of fault current.

n Compact and in DIN format, they fit naturally

into MV cubicles.

n Skilfully designed, they offer a digital ammeter function.

Detection of phase-to-phase faults and earth faults

Earth fault sensing up to 5 A

Fault detection

Overcurrent detection

n

4 microswitch-selected detection thresholds.

n

With Flair 22D and Flair 23D, a threshold of 100 A to 800 A may also be selected,

by steps of 100 A, using the keypad on the front of the device.

n Fault sensing time: 40 ms.

Detection of earth faults

Principle: the detector checks for current variations (di/dt) on the 3 phases.

A

70 s delay is applied for validation of the fault by the upstream protection device.

n

7 microswitch-selectable detection thresholds from 20 A to 160 A.

n

With Flair 22D and Flair 23D, a threshold of 5 A to 160 A may also be selected

using the keypad on the front of the device. For thresholds below 20 A, a zero sequence CT must be used.

Inrush

n To avoid unsollicited tripping when loads are energized, a 3 s delay is applied

when the network is powered up.

Fault indication

Indication

Indication is activated as soon as a fault is validated.

n

Fault indication by a red LED on the front of the device.

n

Faulty phase indication (earth fault) on LCD display.

n

Remote indication by optional external flashing lamp:

o

for Flair 21D and Flair 21DT, which have no power supply, the external lamp

is

equipped with a lithium battery.

n

Activation of a contact for SCADA except for Flair 21D.

Reset of indication

n

Automatic reset upon return of load current.

n

Manual reset by button on front of device.

n

Reset by external input except for Flair 21D.

n

Reset by timer:

o

Flair 21D and Flair 21DT: 4-hour timer

o

Flair 22D and Flair 23D: microswitch-adjustable timer

o

at the end of the delay, the LEDs turns off, the SCADA contact is de-activated,

and faulty phase display is maintained until the current returns.

Clear, comprehensive display

Display principle

n

The load current is shown on the display.

n

When a fault is detected, the faulty phase is indicated.

n

Settings can be scrolled by pressing the button on the Flair 21D.

Settings and measurements can be scrolled by pressing the buttons on the Flair 22D and Flair 23D.
