ADHERING

TO THE

THEOCRACY-GOD RULE

RE: LEADERS
Ecclesiastes 12:13 13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. As believers we must adhere to the rule of God-Theocracy. For us to do so, God have provided for us “all Scriptures” which “is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” Doctrine-teaching; Reproof-conviction (of a sinner); Correctionrectification (reformation). This is necessary for the man of God to be perfect (complete). It is this Word (All Scriptures) that gives us directive in regards to our leaders. 1. How are They chosen 2. What is their purpose DEACONS Deacons – diakoneo (dee-ak-on-eh'-o): from the word “serve” seen in Acts 6:2, 3. Diakoneo: Deacon - to be an attendant, i.e. wait upon (menially or as a host, friend, or [figuratively] teacher). Appointment: Acts 6:3 gives us proof that deacons were to be appointed and it is the multitude of disciples that is to carry this out. Note: the twelve instructs other disciples, not the multitude of saints but disciples. At the ascension of Jesus the Disciples were numbered over One hundred and twenty. Shortly after the revelation of The Holy Ghost the multitudes of souls that was added to the church was over three thousands. What this reveal is that the multitude of disciples were really a multitude as needed for the nurturing of the multitude of souls.

1. Qualification: Acts 6:3 gives a foundational basis on their qualification. The deacons were not just supposed to be honest but have honest report; they were to show evidence of being full of the Holy Ghost; they were to be wise (full of Godly wisdom). This is for the purpose of being over the business of the body (local assembly).
2. Qualification: 1Timothy 3:8-13. This passage shows us that

a deacon should be grave (inspiring; reputable; dignified), not double tongued (two-faced, deceitful in one's words; saying one thing and meaning something else) nor greedy of filthy lucre (A person who is eager to gain even if such gain degrades his moral character.). They (Deacons) should hold the mystery of the faith in pure conscience. It is commonly felt that ladies in the church are to be placed in the position of deacons. This is due to Phebe being mentioned as a servant. For this to be true it would contradict 1Timothy 3:12 (husband) and Acts 6:3 (men) which clearly states that a deacon must be a male. All believes should live in a manner that they can be used of God (serve), this does not mean that they are to be place over the business of the body (1Timothy 2:12). ELDERS There are different levels of an Elder/overseer. It starts with one who is at a basic level in a local assembly; then with the level of a pastor; then a bishop and perhaps higher. This can be seen in 1Peter 5:1, where Peter address himself as an elder in his address to elders that are lower than he. Appointments: Titus 1:5 shows the apostle Paul giving instruction to Titus (who would now be an overseer) to ordain elders in every city. This is not for the body to do, but for Titus as an overseer to do, base on the instruction of Apostle Paul and not the body. Acts 14:19-22. Here is provided additional info as to the rule of God concerning the appointment of elders. They were appointed by leaders (disciples) as seen in verse 22. Qualification/Duty Peters charge – 1Peter 5:1-4: Elders are to feed the flock and be leaders (oversight v2) over them. This should be done not by

constraints but willingly. This must never be as lords over them but by examples. Peter’s charge Acts 20:28: Elders are to feed the flock over which they have been made overseers by the Holy Ghost. Again, not to be confused; the scriptures speak to elders as women this is seen in 1Timothy 5:2, but this address old woman. We must interpret scripture in its proper context and in light of other scripture. If a woman is not place as a ruler over her husband or home (Genesis 3:16; 1Timothy. 2:12; 1Corinthians 11:13), how can she be over the house of God? Genesis 2:18-23 God took a rib, which is one of the supporting bone of Adam and formed Eve and return Eve (the support) to man to make him complete. Therefore God has set out for woman to support (Help meet) man in the home and also in the operations of the church. Help Meet Help - OT:5826 `azar (aw-zar'); a primitive root; to surround, i.e. protect or aid: KJV - help, succour. Meet - OT:5048 neged (neh'-ghed); from OT:5046; a front, i.e. part opposite; specifically a counterpart, or mate; usually (adverbial, especially with preposition) over against or before:. (Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. Copyright © 1994, 2003 Biblesoft, Inc. and International Bible Translators, Inc.) What is also quite evident from the different duty/responsibility is that there is a greater level of responsibility for the elder than of the deacon. There duties in some cases are similar; however, there is a greater oversight place on the elder. Elders are to be overseers of the general assembly; deacons are to oversee some of the duties as seen in Acts 6. To whom much is given much is required.
