Having Intimacy with God Objectives: In these lesson we will learned and understand how to build a deeper intimacy

with God through prayer, daily devotion/ bible reading and also fellowship with worship. We will learn the different types of prayer, the importance of prayer in the lives of Christian. We also discuss here the brief history of bible, the importance of daily devotion and how to make your own devotion. We will also discuss also the importance of fellowship to fellow believers and what is the importance of worship. Introduction: Having intimate relationship with God begins when we radically pursue Him with our whole heart. King David said in Psalm 27:8 When said, seek My face, my heart said to you. God invites us in James 4:8 draw near to God and he He draw near to you. How we draw near to God? What will do to able to know him and have a intimate relationship with God. Its start in prayer and devotions. Its like a two way process of communication that we will discuss latter in these lesson. Intimacy means State of being lovingly close. Close familiar and usually affection or loving personal relationship. Affectionate act of expression of love. Relationship with someone where you are vulnerable, loving trusted.

A. Prayer 1. What is prayer? From latin word precatio means act of seeking. From Hebrew word proseuche means communion with God. Personal and intimate connection with our loving heavenly father. 2. 5. Types of Prayer a. b. c. d. Adoration Supplication- means to petition or request. Ask God for things we need. (Philippians 4:6) Contrition/ Expiation- means we acknowledge our sinfulness and ask God for His forgiveness and mercy. Intercessory Prayer means to plead or mediate on behalf of another person.(Romans 8:26-27 and 1 John 2:1) e. Prayer in Spirit means speaking of tongue. f. Prayer of Thanksgiving. 6. Why pray? a. We pray because we love God. We spend time with God in Prayer and communion because we love him. We pray because we depend on God. God is our source. He is our life (Colossians 3:4). Through prayer\ we receive the confort, the strength and all the other resources that we need in life. We need prayer in order to resist temptation (Matthew 26:41) We need to pray because it is necessary for men to invite God to act in salvation. We need to pray because God commands us to pray. ( Colossians 4:2, Luke 18:1) We pray because Jesus Christ, our model, prayed constantly. ( Mark 1:35) We pray because God hears and answers prayer. (Matthew 7:7) We pray that our joy may be full (John 16:24)
