The Jubilate Ringers of Weston are an Interfaith bell choir formed in the fall of 2006, and co-directed by Jo Shute of the Unitarian Church in Westport and Ellen Dickinson of the Norfield Congregational Church in Weston. They welcome additional participation from other congregations. The Offering will be divided between Westport's scholarship program ABC: A Better Chance, and the Janus Center, administered by the Council of Churches of Greater Bridgeport. Violinist Samuel Weiser is the 2008–9 recipient of the Daniel Pearl Award, and an ambassador for the Pearl Foundation, which furthers the memory and work for Peace of the Jewish-American journalist executed by terrorists in Pakistan in 2002. Pearl also played the violin. Featured Speakers
Tracy Sugarman’s life was changed when he heard Dr. King’s challenging speech at Temple Israel in 1964. It inspired the illustrator and author to become an activist in, and illustratordocumentarian of, the Civil Rights Movement in Mississippi. Woody Klein is an award-winning reporter, author, historian and Westport News columnist, who has has devoted his professional life to writing about social justice and civil rights. He will be reading from his exclusive interview with Dr. King in 1965.
