Dear April Fools participant, This is your information packet for the 2012 April Fools Challenge - Napa.

Please set a mileage goal for the month. Reach your goal to become an official April Fool. Each participant is asked to gather at least $0.25 per mile in pledges. For a parent/child team we ask that you each raise $0.25 per mile in pledges. flat pledges in an equivalent amount is fine! Online payments! The website now supports online payments (it might not be ready until later in March). If you want your sponsors to pay online just point them to the Donate Now page. Give them your username so that their pledge is tagged to the miles you ride. Your miles will bring in additional dollars because local businesses and service organizations have also made pledges that apply to all the miles ridden. Log your miles every time you ride. Please, lets keep it fair and honest. No banking of miles to surprise your competition. Stationary bike miles rides longer than 20 miles will be clipped. Miles beyond 20 are automatically reduced by 50%. (A 50 mile ride will be 20 + (30/2) or 35 miles). Please be honest. Use the new Stationary bike checkbox and the system will take care of the rest. Please join the April Fools Facebook page to keep up to date with the latest information. Each town will host some sort of post April Fools celebration in early May. More information will be available later in the month. The next page is the Pledge sheet used for tracking your pledges. If you fill this sheet, just print off another copy. The final pages are city specific letters that you give each of your sponsors. Print a bunch of copies of the letter for your city. Give that letter to your sponsors. Feel triumphant!you did something good for yourself and for someone else!

Dear friends and potential April Fools Sponsor, Would you sponsor me in a bike-a-thon? We are raising money for the Napa County Bicycle Coalition (aka NapaBike.org) and the COPE Family Center! NapaBike.org is hosting a month-long activity called the April Fools Challenge where all the participants track their miles ridden on any sort of bicycle, be it on the road, in the mountains, or even on a unicycle. At the end of the month there is a fun dinner and awards ceremony where we all feel like winners for having worked off some of the winters rust. The person who rides the most miles during the month is crowned Grand April Fool. This fun event is even more meaningful as it raises money for two worthy local organizations Napa Bike, and the COPE Family Center. For information about how these non-profit organizations serve our community, please call Executive Director Michael Costanzo at 707-812-1770 or visit www.napabike.org and http://www.copefamilycenter.org Sponsors are giving a TAX DEDUCTIBLE Gift which will be divided equally between Napa Bike and COPE to support their respective community programs. April Fools expenses associated with the event are covered by the April Fools organizers and event sponsorships; so your total donation will go directly to the benefit of Napa Bike and COPE. You may sponsor me on a per mile basis or a flat donation. I will contact you at the end of April with my final number of miles ridden.
