Grammar The present continuous tense : Use : To express an action that is still going on now . e.g. : I'm watching T.V now . Key words : now at the moment at present today look listen be quiet . Form : It's made by using " am , is or are " with the ing form of the verb . When you make the ing form of a verb , notice these point of spelling . 1- When a verb ends in ( e ) , drop this ( e ) and add ( ing ) e.g. write I am writing a letter at the moment . But if a verb ends in ( ee ) , the final ( e ) isn't dropped 2- If a verb ends in a vowel and a consonant , double the last letter e.g. swim look ! The children are swimming . But ( w , x , y ) aren't doubled e.g. draw she is drawing a picture now . 3- If a verb ends in 2 vowels and a consonant , don't double the last letter . e.g. rain It's raining now . 4- If a verb ends in ( ie ) , change them to ( y ) , then add ing e.g. lie He is lying on the floor reading a book .
