very susceptible to your BRAKE
PADS or CALIPER SLIDES freezing,
binding, or sticking. This is due to
moisture, dirt, sand, and de-icing
chemicals used on our roads. Your
BRAKE PADS and CALIPER SLIDES
will get corroded and-or have a dirt
buildup that causes them to bind.
When they bind, the pads cannot
release properly, resulting in brake
drag. It feels as though you are
slightly holding your foot on the brake pedal all of the time. The
end result is drop in fuel mileage, premature brake wear out, and
warped brake rotors. The cure for this is a preventive mainte-
nance called a BRAKE CALIPER/KNUCKLE SERVICE. This
service should be done at least once a year to prevent these
issues from happening. Once the issue occurs it is too late. Call

timed late race restart that took
him below the white line to get
by Brad Keselowski and Clint
Bowyer gaining important track
position that enabled him to hold
off a determined Jimmie Johnson
on numerous ensuing restarts and
win Sundays Kobalt Tools 400 at
Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The
win was the rst for the defending
champion of the season, his rst at
Las Vegas, his earliest career season
win and his sixth in the last thirteen
Cup races. The win leaves Stewart
with only two Sprint Cup venues
that have kept him out of Victory
Lane and his fourteenth season in
a row with at least one Cup win.
Jimmie Johnson, who has won four
out of the last eight spring races at
LVMS, nished second. New se-
ries points leader Greg Bife n-
ished in third- his third -third place
nish of the season. Ryan Newman
and Carl Edwards nished fourth
and fth, respectively. Steward
reected on his strong late race re-
starts. I dont know if we had the
dominate car but we just were so
strong on restarts. said Stew-
ard while rattling off a long list of

Defending series champion,
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. dominated the
end of Saturdays Sams Town 300
Nationwide Series race at Las Ve-
gas Motor Speedway. Leading one
time for the nal 55 laps and pull-
ing away from Mark Martin during
a 39-lap green ag run to the nish.
The win was Stenhouses rst of
the season, rst on a Superspeed-
way, and third of his series career,
the other two coming last season at
Iowa Speedway, a 1.5-mile interme-
diate track which for some idiotic
reason is the staple of NASCARs
three touring series. Martin, who
has ve top-ves at LVMS, hung
on for second followed by series
point leader Elliott Sadler in third.
Trevor Bayne nished third-his
second career top-ve at the track
and Las Vegas native Brendan
Gaughan nished fth. I denitely
think we had the car to beat -- I feel
like we could have started sixth
and still won that race there at the
end, Stenhouse said. I found a
line that I like to run, the car was
coming around to it, (crew chief)
Mike Kelley made some awesome
pit calls there, and I just think we
had the car to beat. Martin said the
nal green ag run was no contest.
That was one serious beat-down
he put on me that last run, Martin
told the NASCAR Wire Service.
I mean just a beat-down. I kept
up with him for a while and about
wrecked ve times, and thats it.

Twinfield Trojans Boys Basketball Repeat As
State Champions Over Danville 61-52
Last Saturday the Twinfield Trojans
boys basketball team took on the
Danville Indians for the Vermont State
Division IV Championship for the sec-
ond year in a row. Last year the final
score was Twinfield 64 Danville 58. It
was a determined Trojans team that
took the court at the Barre Aud taking
a 12-9 lead at the end of the first quar-
ter. The Indians were unable to deter
the Trojans scoring bringing a 26-22
half time score with the Trojans lead-
ing. After the halftime break Danville
found a new strength outscoring
Twinfield 16-12 to bring a 38-36 third
period down by two. Still determined
as ever the Trojans ran a 23 to 16 scor-
ing run to take the State Division IV
Championship. Scoring for Twinfield
were # 21 David Codling with 17
points, # 4 Avery Whitcomb 15 points
and # 20 Chad Copeland 12 points.
Danville was all over Twinfields high
scorer Copeland who had 2 fouls half
way threw the first quarter and sat out
the rest of the first and all the second
quarters to insure his play in the last
half. He ended up with just two fouls.
Danvilles top scorers were # 14 Tony
Burrington with 20 points (14 points in
the second half) and # 25 Kyle Johnson
14 points. Twinfield ends their season
with a 21-2 record and Danville a 17-6
record.

In advance of NASCARs return to Rockingham
Speedway, Goodyear hosted a tire test on Tuesday
(March 6) and Wednesday (March 7) . NASCAR
Camping World Truck Series drivers James Buescher
(Turner Motorsports), Jason Lefer (Kyle Busch Mo-
torsports) and Timothy Peters (Red Horse Racing)
participated. Rockingham Speedway will host the
third NCWTS event of the season on Sunday, April 15.
The Good Sam Roadside Assistance Carolina 200 pre-
sented by Cheerwine will mark the rst time the series
has competed on the famed speedway. The Rock,
formerly known as North Carolina Motor Speedway,
last hosted a NASCAR national series event in Febru-
ary 2004. Matt Kenseth won the last of 78 NASCAR
Sprint Cup Series races on the storied, one-mile oval
in North Carolinas sand hills region. Thanks to ma-
jor infusions of passion and resources, Rockinghams
owner Andy Hillenburg will raise NASCARs banner
once more.
Milestone Watch: Dave Blaney made his 400th NA-
SCAR Sprint Cup Series start last Sunday at Las Ve-
gas. Hes currently 49th on the all-time start list.
Peoples United Bank will usher in the new Fri-
day night stock car racing schedule at Devils Bowl
Speedway with the Peoples United Bank Memorial
Day Modied Special on Friday, May 25. The event
kicks off the new summer schedule for the NASCAR
Whelen All-American Series at the West Haven, VT
asphalt half-mile. Peoples United Bank will present
the Memorial Day Modied Special at Devils Bowl
Speedway on Friday, May 25 at 7:30pm. The tracks
46thseason opens on Sunday, May 6 at 1:30pm, with
the Spring Green 112 for the American-Canadian Tour
Late Models and the NASCAR Whelen All-American
Series.
Brian Vickers is on what he hopes is the comeback
trail having been slated for six races in the Cup Series
for Michael Waltrip Racing in the No 55 Toyota start-
ing this weekend at Bristol. Vickers will run the Au-
gust race at Bristol and both races at Martinsville and
New Hampshire. In light of Bristols high banks and
Martinsvilles at paper-clip both facilities are consid-
ered pay-back tracks and Vickers nished last season
at Phoenix and Homestead-Miami in a get-even mode,
MWR might want to consider investing in a little ex-
tra Yota sheet metal. Mark Martin, who headed into
Las Vegas last weekend seventh in the points standing,
will drive the No 55 in 24 races, along with the All-
Star race in Charlotte. MWR will name a driver for
two road curse events later in the season. Vickers, 25
, who has competed full-time in the series for the past
eight years, has two career victories and 11 poles and
nished 25th in the sprint cup standings last season for
the now defunct Red Bull Racing. .

against themselves for qualifying positions in the fea-
ture and three spots in the semi-featuresay four (4)
spots in the feature. Next heat comprised of middle
with ve (5) qualied spots for the feature and three
to the semi feature for points and money, nally, the
high handicap teams race together for six (6) spots
in the feature and three in the semi. Semi is 12 laps
lined up according to nishes in heat events for bonus
seasonal points and money. Those not qualied will
race for starting positions in the consi where up to ve
(5) teams will be given qualied handicap spots. This
system requires every racer to compete throughout the
heats and semithat is what the fans pay to see. The
feature then takes the top 20 and lines them up by the
handicap they have acquired as of the date of the race,
just like the heats, with the balance going to the rear.
BAD: Not much incentive for larger car counts, as
those without handicaps are penalized from the regu-
lars, and their starting spots, whether qualied or not,
pretty much dictate they will start no better than an
average of around 16th, depending on the number of
events they have competed in over the season. Com-
ment: This is a system used by the original atheads
at Thunder Road in the 1960s, by various local divi-
sions over the past 50 years, and was a mainstay on the
original NASCAR NORTH TOUR from 1979 1985.
It was also used for many years at Thunder Road, until
the parity with the crate motors became so prevalent
about ve years ago that it became non-functional.
