NODIG Pipe Rehabilitation

Know How Technology Quality - Innovation

The problem of the current infrastructure

High age of the existing pipeline network High rate of losses Static Problems Corrosion Roots in the pipe Difficult situation for digging in cities because of the traffic Collapsing of lines due to natural aging material quality etc.

Non registered tapping points (pressure mains) Non registered laterals (gravity mains)

Advantages of No-Dig Technologies

No (or only small) construction work use of existing sewage manholes or small building pits for pressure pipes for installation Significant reduction of traffic jams and resultant environmental pollution, as far as roads do not have to be blocked Extremely short project duration 150 250 m a day can be rehabilitated in average, but installation lengths up to 500 m and more are possible No deposit material with regular digging, deposit material such as soil, old pipe material, etc. would have to be transported to deposit sites.

Advantages of No-Dig Technologies

No damages to infrastructure and surrounding facilities etc. - cost intensive rebuilding activities can be avoided No damage to other underground cable lines, pipes, etc. Economic efficiency due to the significant shorter project duration and reduction of construction works, the costs are in average lower than those of normal excavation based projects, especially in cities

Long Pipe Relining

Long Pipe Relining

Technology The old pipe is cleaned, calibrated and inspected Excavation of installation pits Regular Pipes are used (up to 150 mm on coils, all dimensions above single pipes have to be welded) Installation of the welded pipes with a winch Quite big Reduction of Diameter Annulare gap between host pipe and new pipe Applications For almost all materials DN 80 - >1000 mm Major properties Up to Do 160mm as bundled coil available Mechanical and chemical properties of PE-Pipes Reduction of cross section Requires a big excavation pits and big space for laying out of welded pipes

Short Pipe Relining

Short Pipe Relining

Technology The old pipe is cleaned, calibrated and inspected Regular Pipes are used Installation through manholes or installation pits Connection of the pipes in manhole/pit Connected Pipes are pulled/pushed into the old pipe Reduction of the Diameter Applications For almost all materials DN 80 - 2000 mm Major properties Reduction in cross section Annulare gap between host pipe and new pipe Installation of big dimensions requires big excavations

Close-Fit Pipe

DN 100 bis 400 mm

Close Fit: r.tec CF Liner

Technology
Use of a pre deformed PE pipe with reduced diameter. The Close Fit liner is inserted in the old pipe through existing pits or a small trench excavation pit. Reforming of the Close Fit Liner with temperature and pressure to a round pipe. The new pipe is pressed close fit on the existing pipe. The r.tec CF Liner is connected to the existing network with PE fittings.

Applications
Drinking water, gas, industrial, oil, sewer For almost all pipe materials Diameter DN 80 400 mm Installation length limited with drum capacity

Close Fit: r.tec CF Liner

Major properties
PE100 pipe SDR17, SDR 26 or SDR 32 PN 10 bar for water- and PN 6 bar for gas pipes. SDR 26 or 32 for sewer pipes. Standard product is black with blue or orange coloured stripes for water or gas. (totally coloured liner on request) Packaging: coiled on a drum

Close Fit: r.tec CF Liner

Advantages
Just little reduction in cross-sectional area (wall thickness of the pipe) Static and mechanical properties comparable with the properties of a new PE Pipe No / just minimal digging Extremely long and no-dig installation possible (e.g. 956 m in one installation, Italy 2005 ) No welding seams and perfect inner surface. Good chemical and physical resistance Bends up to 15possible without excavation.

Close Fit: r.tec CF Liner

Connection Technology Basically the connection is done with Electro fusion Fittings! Electro Fusion Fittings: There are two types of electro fusion fittings which are used for the CF- Liner, standard E- fittings or relining transition fittings. (Depending on Dimension)

Close Fit: r.tec CF Liner

Expander Supported Welding / Steel-Rings

To weld the CF-Liner with the Electro Fusion Fitting a Expander supported Welding is required to keep the liner on the correct diameter and support the liner during the welding procedure. The Expander is a hydraulic press which put the CF-Liner up to the required diameter and keeps is in that position during the whole welding- and cooling time! At low-pressure gas pipes special steel rings can be inserted into the ends to support the Liner during the welding. After the welding the rings remain in the pipe. (no expander must support the pipe during welding procedure)

Close Fit: r.tec CF Liner

Connection to the system After the extended cooling time the expander is put out of the CFLiner. At the standard edge or into the second side of the transition coupler standard PE fittings can be installed.. Connect section with standard PE-pipes or weld on a PE-loose flange and install further armatures.

Close Fit: r.tec CF Liner

Connection of junctions To connect junctions to the Close Fit Liner a small pit is required The pipe must be opened in the area of the connection before the CF-liner is pulled in! To realize connections special Fittings and a Top Loading Equipment is used.

CIPP - Technology Pressure Pipes Connections

Connections/Finishing works Because of the high bonding value to the existing pipe actually no additional sealing or protection is required. But usually internal protection rings against mechanical damage, (for example during cleaning works) are installed. The connection to the existing system is done with regular jointing technology. House Connections are opened with a Cutting Robot. Because of the high bonding normally no additional works are required. As additional protection or for bigger connecting pipes special internal-sealing couplings are used.
