com/doc/85710094/Answer-Board-Instructions INTRODUCTION Greetings and congratulations on your use of a Truth & Beauty Lab Answer Board. This document will detail the command set and interactive use of the Answer Board. If you are an owner of a Truth & Beauty Lab Answer Board and want to learn how to configure or customize your Answer Board, see the Answer Board Owner Manual included with the product or available in PDF format at http://www.scribd.com/doc/85710211/Answer-Board-Owner-Manual Truth & Beauty Lab Answer Boards are configured to query Wikipedia and Wolfram Alpha for responses making them the smartest scripted agents in Second Life. FEATURES Truth • • • • • • • • • & Beauty Lab Answer Boards contain the following features: Artificially Intelligent chat Wikipedia & Wolfram Alpha query support including Unicode character display Auto detect user's language and query that language Wikipedia Email – you can use your Answer Board to send email Notecard and Landmark dispenser Highly configurable including ability to restrict responses based on name Dialog menu configuration makes it easy to configure Configure which language Wikipedia to use Configurable as public (local chat) or private channel only – low lag
HOW TO CHAT WITH AN ANSWER BOARD Answer Boards listen to Local Chat. To chat with an Answer Board, simply type something in Local Chat. Answer Boards can be configured to respond either to all local chat or only to local chat which includes either the first or last name of the Answer Board. In this case, preface your local chat with the Answer Board's first or last name. For example, “board, what is the meaning of life” would prompt a response from an Answer Board named “Answer Board”. HOW TO QUERY WIKIPEDIA WITH AN ANSWER BOARD Answer Boards can be used to query Wikipedia and return the introductory Wikipedia summary of an article. To do so, use one of the trigger phrases below: "what is” "what's" "what're" "what is a" "what is an" "what is the" "what are" "what are the" "what's a" "what's an" “where is“
“where are” “where's” "who is" "who are" "who're" "who's" Answer Boards can be configured to automatically detect the user's language. If this is the case then the above trigger phrases can be chatted in Nihongo, Russkiy, Nederlands, Português, Polski, Italiano, Español, Français, Deutsch or English. If no trigger phrase is recognized then the entire chat is used to search Wikipedia. If no Wikipedia article matches the search phrase then Wolfram Alpha is queried. If no Wolfram Alpha answer is available then the board generates an appropriate AI chat response. For example, to query Wikipedia for the introductory summary of the article on the fearsome Comanche Chief named Buffalo Hump, say “Board, Who is Buffalo Hump”. Alternately, you could simply say “Board, Buffalo Hump”. To ask Wikipedia for a summary of the mathematical constant PI, say “Board, What is Pi”. To query the Spanish Wikipedia for the summary on Picasso, say “board, quien es picasso”. Note, even though Wikipedia queries are case sensitive the Answer Board query need not be as the Answer Board modifies your query using Wikipedia capitalization guidelines. Note that the Answer Board owner can configure the bot to either query Wikipedia or bypass Wikipedia so Answer Boards may respond differently depending on owner settings. Further, Answer Boards configured to respond only by name will need to be queried using their first or last name – e.g. “Board, what is Pi ?”. HOW TO QUERY WOLFRAM ALPHA WITH AN ANSWER BOARD You can submit queries and computation requests to the Wolfram Alpha engine for factual answers. To bypass Wikipedia and send your query directly to Wolfram Alpha use one of the following trigger phrases: "wolfram ” “alpha “ “wolfram alpha “ For example, to query Wolfram Alpha for facts concerning Bismark, North Dakota say “wolfram Bismark, North Dakota” or “alpha Bismark, North Dakota”. To ask Wolfram Alpha for the cube root of 383 say “wolfram what is the cube root of 383”. If the search query is not found at Wolfram Alpha then the Answer Board will query Wikipedia and, if no Wikipedia article exists, the Answer Board will send the query terms to pandorabots.com for an AIML programmed response. HOW TO SEND EMAIL WITH AN ANSWER BOARD Answer Boards can be configured to support the sending of email by any resident to any valid email address. To do so, use one of the following email triggers: "i want to email " "i would like to email " "i want to send an email to " "i would like to send an email to " "email " "send an email to " Follow one of the above phrases with a valid email address. For instance,
“email firstname.lastname@example.org” would prompt the Answer Board to ask you for a subject and message body then send an email to Missy Restless. Note that the email “From” address is the Answer Board's UUID so if you wish to include your own email address for a reply, do so in the body of your message. Note also that this feature, like most Answer Board features, can be enabled or disabled by the Answer Board owner. If you wish to cancel your email in the middle of your email entry with the Answer Board, type the line “cancel email”. It is not necessary to use the Answer Board name to send email even when the Answer Board is configured to respond only by name. HOW TO RECEIVE A NOTECARD, LANDMARK, OR THIS GUIDE Answer Boards can be configured to present a dialog menu to the user when they hear the message “menu” in chat. If this is the case, the notecards, landmarks, manuals, and guides can be accessed via the dialog menu. Note that the Answer Board owner can choose to restrict access to the menu system to owner or group only. HOW TO TURN AN ANSWER BOARD OFF/ON The owner of an Answer Board can choose to configure the item to listen for verbal shutoff commands from the owner, an authorized group, or any resident. In this mode the Answer Board will turn itself off when hearing any of the following phrases: "shut up", "shut up.", "shut up!", "be quiet.", or "be quiet". Touch (left mouse click) a disabled Answer Board to turn it back on. The dialog menu can also be used to turn Answer Boards off and on.
