Tuesday Morningfreeze damage for the High Plains? Abnormal warmth and advancing winter crops are now very vulnerable to an early freeze. Temperatures will be 25-32F in the coldest locations of the Central High Plains this week, potentially causing isolated damage. After this, temperatures go back to normal or above (in this region) until at least the first days of April.

Wednesday morning temperatures will be 1-2 degrees colder in the High Plains, reaching 31 at Amarillo and 29F in the W OK Panhandle. North Platte will bottom at 27F.

As of March 17, vegetation condition is much better than normal in most of the U.S., except from E Texas to Georgia and in the far West. Moisture and early spring warmth has brought conditions along very fast.

Precipitation for the remainder of March will be heaviest in the Lower Mississippi Valley, with flooding resulting in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas.

In summary, flooding becomes an issue this week from Missouri and SW Illinois to Central and East Texas, while after two freezing mornings in the Central High Plains, temperatures show no signs of freeze damage through April 3.
