Graphing Rational Numbers Graphing rational numbers on a number line can be done by marking a point on the place of the number line that corresponds to the number. Rational numbers can also be expressed in decimal form in which the decimal equivalent of any numeral may repeat. If any decimal number is repeated, it can be represented with a bar. A number line is diagram or line which represents the numbers from negative infinity to positive infinity. A number line extends itself indefinitely in two opposite directions. The left part of the number line consists of negative numbers whereas the right side of the number line consists of positive numbers.

The midpoint is zero which is neither neither positive nor negative and is considered to be neutral. For instance, to graph -7, a point is drawn on the tick mark which is seven places away from zero towards the left side of it. So -7 is known to be the co ordinate of the point. The absolute value of -7 on the number line from zero is 7 because it is seven places away from zero. The numbers on the number line are categorized in a few groups depending on their nature. They are: natural numbers, whole numbers, integers etcNatural numbers are the numbers which starts from 1 till the positive infinity. The given set of numbers are natural numbers 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,.. Whole numbers are the numbers which start from zero till the positive infinity. The given set of numbers are whole numbers 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9. Integers contribute to the whole numbers and their opposites this means that all the numbers on the numbers line consisting of positive and negative value.

The given set of numbers are integers.-4,-3,-2,-1,0,+1,+2,+3.. Graphing of rational numbers can be done on a graph sheet which helps us to mark the points even with decimal values. This helps in drawing results to many mathematical problems geometrically and easily. The graphing of rational numbers method is used in topics such as linear equations and linear in equations. Hence it is applied in linear equations and linear inequations, statistics, and economics. Domains and conjunctions are however again related to this graphing system. To mark the rational numbers on a number line first we need to change the fractions into decimals, and then mark them according to the given value. It is always suggestible to mark the given values at their best places or nearest to the given value. This helps in extracting better solutions easily.
