MEC Moves into Ethiopia to Counter Rising Energy Costs

Addis Ababa - March 22, 2012: Magnetic Emission Control AS (MEC AS), a leading Norwegian company that develops groundbreaking emissions reduction and fuel efficiency technology, today inked a dealer agreement with QOPH Engineering Enterprise (QOPH) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Under the terms of the agreement, QOPH will target long haul trucking businesses, earth-moving and construction equipment, bus and taxi fleets. Our move into Ethiopia comes as a part of our larger expansion plans into the Middle East and Africa region, said Bjorn Skjervold, CEO of MEC AS. We have found that emerging markets, that require consuming energy to grow economically, are very attracted to our technology. We hope to be able to assist them in achieving their objectives, both in a costs effective and environmentally friendly manner. Company executives came to the region last September looking to market a unique, Norwegian patented technology that when utilized leads to increased torque, reduced fuel consumption and significant reduction in emissions. When attached to fossil fuel combustion engines, anything from cars, lorries and trucks to ships, gas turbines, oil field flares and coal burning power plants, the fuels in them burns more efficiently.

This results in two outcomes. For the same distance and effort, less fuel is burnt and less CO2 and soot particles are emitted into the atmosphere, continued Skjervold. On average soot emissions are reduced between 50 and 80 percent, which means less money spent on maintenance and longer engine utilization periods. MEC AS is engaged with companies in various sectors including land and marine transportation, gas turbines, asphalt and cement production, open flare oil field production and coal burning industries. Currently, MEC AS has more than 20,000 satisfied customers in Europe and the United States, many of whom reported fuel savings of more than 12 percent per year.
