Do you like to celebrate? Do you enjoy that thrill of victory? I think most of us enjoy that feeling when something we have worked hard for pays off. When some task we have been pursuing for a great deal of time finally comes to fruition in a positive way. That rush of adrenaline, that increase in serotonin, creates this wonderful feeling within us. A feeling that makes everything seem brighter, we feel better, and it seems everything is right with the world! I love victory!! This month we all get the opportunity to celebrate a victory together. A victory where each of us can participate. A victory that will never leave us and can have a lasting impact on every single aspect of our lives. I am talking about Easter. I am talking about that day Christians set aside to remember the empty tomb and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. I have had the opportunity to stand in Jerusalem in the supposed spots where this empty tomb would have existed. One spot is in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. In this venue, from a specific vantage point, you can see the place where Christ would have been crucified, the stone that his body was laid upon after he died, and the tomb in which he was buried. All of these sites are contained within the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, a massive building. The other supposed site is called the Garden Tomb. It is still kept as a garden and you can walk through and see where they believe Christ was crucified and walk around the garden to see the empty tomb. You can walk into the tomb and see where only one of the burial plots was used. Conversely, this area is completely outdoors with open spaces. Debbie and I actually had the opportunity to preach at the Garden Tomb. An incredible experience and one we will never forget. Standing in both places I felt different. It was as if I felt closer to Heaven standing in such important landmarks. To know that my Lord and Savior may have walked in these very places, and according to my seminary professor, if not here, it was not far from here, is extremely humbling for me. Making that tangible connection by seeing or touching something now, and knowing it was around thousands of years ago...almost too much for words. This Easter I want you to celebrate. I want you to experience this victory over sin and death that is ours through Christ Jesus. I want you to understand the power and joy that is ours because of the empty tomb. I want this Easter to be more than recounting a story, more than reliving past events. I pray that this Easter is a changing of your life. A new experience into the breadth of God's grace and the depth of God's love. I want your pulse to race at what God is doing within you. I want adrenaline to course within your body. I want your enthusiasm to overflow throughout your life and your relationships. I want you to celebrate!

Prayer serves as the backbone of the church. It is what supports all our efforts of ministry. In that spirit, you are invited to hold these persons in your prayers and thoughts. Just as the Spirit needs healing, so does the body. The two, it seems, go together in Gods plan. It is a gift that will live in us each and every day and inform every aspect of our lives, if we allow it. I pray you are open this year to the power of Easter. I pray that you celebrate like never before. I pray that God overwhelms you and your life is never the same! Happy Easter!

GENERAL CONFERENCE 2012 The United Methodist Churchs top legislative body, the General Conference, will gather April 24-May 4 in Tampa. Delegates from around the world will set policy & direction for the church, as well as handle other business. General Conference is the only entity that speaks for The United Methodist Church. Volunteers are needed to serve in a variety of roles at the airport, area hotels & the Tampa Convention Center. Volunteers may enroll online at www.flumc.org/GC2012. Main Tasks: During the 11 day session, 988 delegates will revise The Book of Discipline, which regulates the manner in which local churches, annual conferences & general agencies are organized. The book sets policies regarding church membership, ordination, administration, property & judicial procedures. The assembly may modify most disciplinary paragraphs by majority vote, but the Constitution can only be amended by a two-thirds affirmative vote, followed by a two-thirds affirmative vote of the aggregate number of members voting in annual conference session. Delegates may not revoke or change the Articles of Religion or the Confession of Faith unless two-thirds of the delegates agree to change this provision, and three-fourths of the annual conference members also agree. Delegates also revise The Book of Resolutions, a volume declaring the churchs stance on a variety of social justice issues. The book contains more than 300 resolutions that are considered instructive & persuasive, but are not binding on members. In addition, the assembly approves plans & budgets for church-wide programs for the next four years, and elects members of the Judicial Council & the University Senate. Delegates: Equal numbers of lay & clergy delegates are selected from each annual conference. Every annual conference is guaranteed one lay & one clergy delegate. The total number of delegates is limited to 1,000. Legislation: Primary source of legislation are petitions & proposals from church agencies & organizations. Petitions must be submitted 210 days before the opening of the conference. Any organization, ordained minister or lay member of the church may petition the General Conference. Approximately 1,600 pieces of legislation are expected at the 2012 assembly.

WITH THANKS TO ALL OF YOU Dear Pastor Daryl & Congregation, Thank you so much for your prayers for my son Chris. Our dear Lord heard them & Chris didnt have to be hospitalized. He had a 30 minute procedure & was able to go home & rest for a week. The hardest part for Chris was having to eat only soft foods for that week. Later, he called me with the news that the tumor on his vocal cord was non-cancerous. He was actually laughing when he told me the news. So from a very grateful Chris & his Mom, Thank you & Love to you all. Pat Bailey

Thank you for remembering their 60th wedding anniversary this past August. I do apologize for not writing sooner. Im Karen Lanzarotta their oldest daughter. Mom & Dad moved to Ohio mid June. Unfortunately shortly after arriving at my home, Mom went into a nursing home. Please continue to keep Dad in your thoughts & prayers. He will continue to reside with me & my husband, Sam. MEDITATION

How often do you let other people change your mood? Do you let a bad driver, rude waiter, curt boss, or an insensitive employee ruin your day? Unless youre the terminator, for an instant youre probably set back on your heels: however; the mark of a successful person is how quickly they can get their focus back on whats important. Sixteen years ago, I learned a lesson. I learned it in the back of a New York City taxi cab. Heres what happened. I hopped in a taxi & we took off for Grand Central Station. We were driving in the right lane when, all of a sudden, a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded & missed the other cars back end by just inches! The driver of the other car, the guy who almost caused a bad accident, whipped his head around & he started yelling bad words at us. My taxi driver just smiled & waved at the guy. And I mean he was friendly! So I said, Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car & sent us to the hospital! And; this is when my taxi driver told me what I now call, The Law of the Garbage Truck. Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around, full of frustration, full of anger & full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it. And if you let them, theyll dump it on you. When someone wants to dump on you, dont take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well & move on. Youll be happy you did. So this was it: The Law of the Garbage Truck. I started thinking, how often do I let Garbage Trucks run right over me? And how often do I take their garbage & spread it to other people at work, at home, on the streets? It was that day I said, Im not going to do it anymore. I began to see garbage trucks. Like in the movie, The Sixth Sense, the little boy said, I see dead people. Well, now I see Garbage Trucks. I see the load theyre carrying. I see them coming to drop if off. And like my taxi driver, I dont make it a personal thing; I just smile, wave, wish them well & I move on. One of my favorite football players of all time, Walter Payton, did this every day on the football field. He would jump up as quickly as he hit the ground after being tackled. He never dwelled on a hit. Payton was ready to make the next play his best. Good leaders know they have to be ready for their next meeting. Good parents know that they have to welcome their children home from school with hugs & kisses. Leaders & parents know that they have to be fully present & at their best for the people they care about. The bottom line is that successful people do not let Garbage Trucks take over their day. What about you? What would happen in your life, starting today, if you let more garbage trucks pass you by? Heres my bet. Youll be happier. Lifes too short to wake up in the morning with regrets. Nobody said life would be easy...just that it would be worth it! Author Unknown

OCALA RELAY FOR LIFE April 13 & 14 This all night walk is filled with fun things to do & lots of sponsors with many different types of foods & items to sell, all to help raise money to support local cancer patients. Our team needs donations & people to come & walk the track. Because cancer does not sleep, this affair continues all night & concludes Saturday morning at 9. You can ask for people to sponsor you for a certain amount for each lap you make, or just to make a donation. On Fri, April 13 at 9 pm, there is a special ceremony when candles are lit to honor or remember someone close to us. It is a beautiful & meaningful quiet time. Please help our church support this yearly event! Thank you, Ann McMurrer, 237-2031.

THE SCOUTING SIDE Cub Scout Pack 112 Pack 112 had an exciting month of March! Our big event in March was our Pinewood Derby. The boys worked really hard on their cars & we had a great time racing them at the Ed Croskey Recreation Center on March 10. The three fastest cars for each den will be racing again at the District race on March 31, where they will be competing with scouts from other Packs in the Marion District. Im sure the boys will do great! With the extra hour of sunlight, our dens have spent a lot of time outdoors during the weekly meetings. We are looking forward to our camping & fishing activities in April! Kelsey Burnette
