Catalog Course Description
This course, intended for individuals with no previous computing experience, includes the history of computers, a survey of how computers are used today, the basic components of computers and computer terminology and laboratory experiences using application software. A study of information systems and computer careers completes the course. Additional lab time may be required in order to complete application assignments. (CBE) Credit Hours: 3 Contact Hours: 3 lecture hours; 1 laboratory hour. Objectives: This course provides an introduction to computer systems and their applications with each student working on-line and in the classroom as well as independently at home or at any College Computer Lab. One will discover just how prevalent computers are in your everyday life and will learn the history of computing and its processes. No prior computer experience is assumed by the instructor. You will gain experience using Microsoft Office 2010. This course includes exercises using Word Processing, Spreadsheet, Database, Web Surfing (Internet) and PowerPoint.
