REMEMBRANCE DAY on 29th APRIL 2012: SAVE THE DATE


The month of April holds a special significance for both Australians and Pakistanis. While 25 th April marks the ANZAC Day, 30th April is the day when Paksitani nation remembers its armed personnels who have sacrificed their lives to protect their homeland. We are planning to hold a rememberance day event on Sunday, the 29 th April, 2012 (venue to be confirmed) and are in receipt of resources, thanks to Inter Services Public Relations. Any suggestions to make this day a special day are welcome. Please save the date.

Pakistan Day Meet and Greet on 23rd March 2012


Thank you very much to all the friends who attended the event. We acknowledge the support from Australian Asian Association to arrange this event and specially Manil de Mel and Rahim Ghauri to personally take interest in arranging this program. We also acknowledge the support from Community Partnership Program and will include photographs in our next newsletter. We also apologise for inconvenience caused to patrons who called us a couple of days before the event and were not accommodated because of the limited number in the venue.

UPDATE ON SCREENING PAKISTANI MOVIE: RAMCHAND PAKISTANI


The movie is currently under review for classification and its suitability to be screened on Perth mega screen for general audience. As soon we receive a decision from the organisers members will be updated.

PAKISTAN ASSOCIATION OF CURTIN STUDENTS


PACS is organising a movie event on 6th April at Curtin University. The tickets are 5$ each. Please support the group under the leadership of Adil who is the new president of the group.

FRIDAY PRAYERS IN FREMANTLE


Jumma in Fremantle (organized by Moulana Feizal). Expected time is 1:40 Namaz and probably 30 min of Khutba beforehand. It is in a side hall at St. Pauls Anglican Church: 162 Hampton Road, Beaconsfeild (South Fremantle). Please spread this to your circle of friends.

CALD YOUTH FESTIVAL: 3rd APRIL 2012


Belmont City College (BCC) together with Canning Coalition present GLOBAL VILLAGE, on Tuesday 3rd April 2012, from 10.00 - 2.00pm at the Belmont Youth Centre (TRAINING ROOM) on 275 Abernethy Road, Belmont. Young CaLD representatives 25 years or under are encouraged to participate in this event by representing their country / culture and speaking about their experiences. Good oracy skills are essential (at least Cert 2.2 English level) and the ability to speak in front of a large audience would be ideal. A wide range of nationalities / cultures are required to present a diverse overview of the needs of CaLD youth.

ACTIVE LIVING 101: Activating Places and People


Broaden your understanding of the active living agenda and how it relates to your work. Active living 101 is a free community event. Anyone wanting to know more about the active living agenda and how they can benefit from embedding the active living principles can attend the event with prior registration.

Advertisement Administration Support Officer Part Time Womens Health and Family Services (WHFS) Corporate Services at Womens Health and Family Services is looking for an exceptionally organised woman* who likes working with computers and people. The successful candidate will have great communication skills as she will be liaising with WHFS IT service provider and staff to organise IT maintenance, repairs, equipment and supplies for a busy not for profit agency. The successful candidate will be patient and like helping people with IT queries as she will be inducting new staff into the WHFS IT system and also helping staff, students and volunteers with queries about Word and Outlook. COMMUNITY CONSULTATIONS Building and Construction Industry: 16th April 2012 at City West Reception, 45 Palistowe Mews, West Perth The Australian Government is undertaking consultations about the key issues and challenges which face people of culturally diverse backgrounds who work in the building and construction industry. If you work in this industry, or have a story about it, please attend the consultation. Register by April 12th, at 02 87527688.

NEW CAMPAIGN

The Heart Foundations Smarter than Smoking Project has launched a new media campaign - Future In Your Hands. The new campaign urges teenagers to make a positive choice not to smoke and will air on television starting on Sunday 11 March through until 13 May. The campaign will use a 30 and 15 second television advertisement as well as online activity and engagement via popular social media channels. A feature of the campaign is a dedicated website www.futureinyourhands.com.au - you can view the 30 sec ad here.

PAKISTAN AUSTRALIA FRIENDSHIP ASSOCIATION (PAFA)


Congratulations to Mr. Ali Khurram and his team for starting their own radio program on 98.3 FM every Friday at 9 pm. PAFA is an active organisation in Canberra and has asked the community members to volunteer and be part of the PAFA Radio program.

TRANSCULTURAL COMPETENCY AND MENTAL HEALTH

On behalf of Pakistani community, we wish to send our get well wishes to Suresh Rajan, Ex-President of Ethnic Communities Council of WA who has been lately unwell. Suresh Rajan has always been very supportive of the communities group and has always extended his support whenever required.
