Farm City Breakf ast Friday


in honor of national ag Day, the st. joseph Metro Chamber will host the eighth annual Farm City Breakfast on Friday, March 23. the st. joseph agribusiness Committee, a sub-committee of the st. joseph Metro Chamber, plans the event each year with the help of local sponsors. the breakfast is held to recognize the significant contribution of agriculture to the area economy. attendees are a blend of rural and urban business professionals associated with agriculture. Chris Chinn, of Chinn Family Farms, will be the guest speaker. Ms. Chinn and her husband, Kevin, farm at Clarence, Mo., with his parents and brother. they own and raise hogs, cattle, corn and hay on their farm and make all of the feed for the livestock at their feed mill. Chris and her husband are the parents of two children. Chris and Kevin spent four years on the Missouri Farm Bureau (MBF) young Farmers and ranchers Committee in 2004-2008, including two years on the american Farm Bureau Federation (aFBF) young Farmers and ranchers Committee. in the second year on the national committee, Chris was elected chair and also served a year on the aFBF board of directors. the breakfast will begin at 7 a.m., with the program beginning at 8 a.m. the event will be held at Central Christian Church, 1501 leonard road. tickets are still available for $10. this event is open to the public. Buchanan County republicans held their caucus saturday morning, april 17th in judge patrick robbs courtroom at the Courthouse. Bob ott, Chair of the Buchanan County republican Central Committee, called the caucus to order. 166 voters sought voting credentials, but 10 were challenged. ones dad had sought office as a Democrat and had the same name. Bill guenther, a former County republican Chair, moved to admit Dan radke and Derek Clark seconded the motion. it carried on a voice vote. two were admitted after a vote and 8 had to leave. a definitive vote was for caucus chair. tea partier ellis Cross nominated Mr. ott and ryan readenour nominated larry Flinchpaugh, who

was the floor leader for the ron paul effort. Cross, acting secretary, called for a voice vote. it sounded close, but he ruled in otts favor. paul supporters quickly rose to ask for a division of the house and a hand count was taken. Mr. ott won 99-65 (6 more votes than were credentialed). Mr. Cross and rena tyne were nominated for Caucus secretary. Cross won on a voice vote. Unlike many caucuses held elsewhere, attendees did not get to vote for the presidential candidate of their choice. instead they were offered a slate of delegates to the congressional district and state caucuses to be held over the next few weeks. some of the delegates selected were wearing santorum and romney gear, but the presented slate did not state delegate preferences.

two other slates were to be presented by ron paul supporters, but Buchanan County rules said one slate had to be voted down before another could be presented. the first slate was approved 99-48 on a roll-call vote. the 28 delegates selected are: Verda Barnes, Denise Bartles, Ken Beck, ellis Cross, noel Cross, john

the City of stewartsville will be distributing surveys in preparation for an application to the state of Missouris Community Development Block grant program. to be eligible for the requested $500,000 in grant funds, the community must have a low-to-Moderate income (lMi) level of 51% or higher. if the community is determined eligible and the grant is awarded, funds will be used to make needed repairs to the citys water system. the 2012 heartland libertarian Convention will take place on saturday, March 24th at the KCi expo Center adjoined to the holiday inn at KCi. the event is a joint convention of the Missouri and Kansas libertarian parties. speakers include Dave roland of the Freedom Center of Missouri, austin petersen, former associate producer of Freedom Watch with judge andrew napolitano on Fox Business, and amber iris langston of show-Me Cannabis. there will be an elected libertarian Forum with Doug Burlison of the springfield, Mo. City Council and
