Introduction

This chapter presents the findings of the study and a brief discussion about the results obtained in this research. The results obtain from the survey form were tabulated and visualized in the form of various chart and graph as shown below. Each section’s result was shown in different chart according to the specific question. The data from 60 students were calculated. The compilation results indicates the Pros & Contras about the main title and hypothesis which “Do the CIS Graduates Possess Skills Desired by the Employers”

Section A

Chart 1: The Most Important Skill Seek by Employers

The result from chart 1 shown about the awareness among students of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) regarding the importance of skills seeks by the employee in CIS industry. There are five different skills which are management and business acumen, communication skills, critical thinking and creativity, enthusiasm and capacity of independence and lastly deep and latest ICT (technical) skill. From the chart above we could see that most of the students agree that communication skills are the most skills wanted by the employees nowadays with 23 votes.

CIS Graduates Skills [2010] 13 The next skill that the UTP students think is important is the management and business acumen skills with 18 votes. With 13 votes deep and latest ICT (technical) skill is the next skill that UTP students think most employers are seeking. Next is the critical thinking and creativity with 15 votes. . being able to think outside a box and being creative is the skill that most employers are seeking in this competitive industry. The last skill that student think is the least wanted by recruiters is enthusiasm and capacity of independence with 11 votes.

The third skill is the enthusiasm and capacity of independence with 19. Lastly most of the UTP students are lack of critical thinking and creativity with 13. Next with 22% percentage is management skills and business acumen.5%. From the chart we could see that most of the students in UTP possess the communication skills with the highest percentage 29. With 15. critical thinking and creativity. communication skills.

.CIS Graduates Skills [2010] Section C 15 Question 1: Chart 3 The result from chart 3 shows the answer for the question “Do you think what you study in UTP is enough in preparing you for the industry?” and 72. Meaning they want more in their syllabus. Only 27. It shown that most of UTP students say that what ever they are studying in UTP does not help in making themselves well-prepared for the industry.5% student think what they are studying in UTP are strong enough and qualified them for the industry.5% of UTP students think that study in UTP is not enough to prepare them for the industry.

.CIS Graduates Skills [2010] Question 2: 16 Chart 4 The result from chart 4 shown the answer for the question “Do you think that events in UTP are helpful in building up your skills?” and 92.5% students say that they do not agree that all the events held in UTP can enhance their skills to a better level. Only 7.5% of UTP students agree that a lot of events that are being held each semester in UTP is helpful in building up their skills.

.CIS Graduates Skills [2010] Question 3: 17 Chart 5 The result from chart 5 shown the answer on question “Do you think that internship provided by UTP (8 months) helps in enhancing your skills?” and 100% students agree that 8 month of internship. a special internship from UTP do help them to enhance their skill and help them prepare for the industry.

5% students.CIS Graduates Skills [2010] Question 4: 18 Chart 6 The result from chart 6 shown about the answer of question “Do you realize that all the skills listed above are important key-factors that will determine your employability in the future?” and 97. which is almost all are aware that all the skills listed in the question is very important for their employability in the future and only 2.5% students does not aware the importance of the skills towards their marketability. .

CIS Graduates Skills [2010] Question 5: 19 Chart 7 Chart 7 shown the answer for the question “Between flair and skills which is the most important in determining your employability?” The result shows that most of the students agree that skill is important in determining their employability with 90% votes and the other 10% said that talent could determine their employability. .
