O Holy Apostle Philip, Intercede with the merciful God That he may grant our souls forgiveness of sins.

Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory for Ever! + Slava i vo viki!

Slava Isusu Christu!

From the Fathers of the Church …
Origen “The poor you always have with you, but you do not always have me.” (Jn 12: 8) So powerful is the praise of a good work of this kind that it exhorts all of us to fill the Lord’s head with fragrant and rich works so that it may be said also of us that we have done a good work on his head. Because as long as we are in this life we will always have the poor with us, and those who have advanced in word and have become rich in the wisdom of God to care for them, but [this] cannot be equal to having always with them, by night and day, the Son of God, the Word and Wisdom of God, and whatever also the Lord our Savior is.

• Thank you for supporting St. Philip’s! May God bless you for your generosity! Last Sunday, 41 souls were present, collection was $740 total (tithes: 501, Bishop’s Appeal: 200, Easter flowers: 30, candles: 9). On this day, Holy Anointing is celebrated for all parishioners who suffer from infirmities. Please contact Fr. Francis if you would like to receive Holy Anointing, on Wednesday following the Liturgy of the sanctified gifts. Please go to confession prior to receiving Holy Anointing. Great and Holy Friday is a day of strict fast, no meat and dairy products are consumed, we eat only one full meal that day and can have two small refreshments. Traditionally, for the entire Holy Week we intensify our prayer and fasting practices (simple abstinence is required on Holy Wednesday). Then for the feast on Sunday, we bless meat, eggs, cheese and other foods we abstained from. Pilgrim Vocation Icon – Prayers for Vocations: Thank you to the Vincent family for keeping vocation vigil going in our parish this past week. This week Roger and Casey will pray for vocations. If you would like to dedicate another week to prayer for vocations, you can request the icon of St. Philip to come to your home. •Bishop’s Appeal 2012. Thank you to all who responded to the appeal by submitting your pledge card to the parish office, we still have not heard from all of you, please send your pledge in as soon as possible. So far, 10 households (out of 23) have responded, donating total of $1750. The goal for our parish this year is $4600, the Appeal ends on May 31st.
