Hence, I had taken a lot of classes in the past: almost two years in my native country. However, experience in Barnes English is great. I have learned key fundamentals in my pronunciation. The most important thing is the practice of English language which is the main objective during the class. Having personal classes, face to face, is an excellent opportunity to improve and to have stable confidence. Thanks, Jorge Hi Dr Barnes, I finally did your method translation. I enjoy learning your technique. I believe you will get a lot of Brazilian clients with it. Good luck. I will send it to my own contact list and use it in my courses of Basic English or private students. best, Gill Stefani Translations,Interpreting and PR Services Portuguese < > English: Tradução /Translation > gilstefani@uol.com.br > 07951048218 erm rebelde...talvez por causa da idade...mas confesso que e' um bom professor e tenho aprendindo muito com ele Marie

Portuguese and English: Na/No = In the this is different from English. English does not have an equal. Em = In (Use to show where something is in Portuguese) In is like Inside a box (for English) and On is On a box Para = For/To De = From
http://www.sonia-portuguese.com/text/prepositions.htm This website page shows exactly how to translate prepostions between English and Portuguese. Write 1 or 3 examples of every preposition. http://english-language.webpark.pl/prepositions.html Complete this online exercise too.

http://www.mundovestibular.com.br/articles/4807/1/Preposicoes-Prepositions/Paacutegina1.html Excellent explantion of the differences between Portuguese and English English Pronunciation and Structure In Songs Pronunciação inglesa nas canções One of the things you will love about this is watching your favourite songs and learning English Pronunciation at the same time. I am including these songs because I recommend them to my students for learning pronunciation which is now easy for them too. With or Without You > U2 http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=yEfSnjL0pd8 A Turkish student said Wid Wid and I say “With With”. Phonetically this word is “Wiv Wiv” and the word Without is Wi > Vout. Words just like “Within” are “Wi > Vin”. To make a V sound Put your top teeth on your bottom lips and VVVVVVVibrate your teeth. Look in the mirror (mmm i’m really pretty) and watch your lip move. Your lip needs to vibrate to say V. Bicycle Race > Queen http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=1QyXiR4HP8k A student said I like to ride a bycycle (wrong). The right version is in this song. Sing with me “I like to ride MY bicyle, i like to ride my bike (slang)” “I like to ride it where I likkkkkkkke” Us and Them > Pink Floyd http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlY-JlE5ZCo Sing this song slowly and it repeats “Us us us us us and Them them them them”. So you can listen listen listen and learn learn learn the words. Words like The, Them, This, That have a pronunciation which you will hear in This song. You say Them with your tongue between your teeth and it vibrates.

My little Empire > Manic Street Preachers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xA3u7wHcYPQ This song uses double meanings or Homophones. They use the same word 2 times in the sentence with different meanings e.g. “I'm sick of being sick” = I'm tired of feeling sick/I'm fed up of feeling sick “i'm tired of being tired, i'm happy being sad” = being sad was familiar And opposites “my empire has risen (up) and its set (down)” http://www.altools.com/ALTools/ALSong.aspx This program shows the lyrics for your mp3s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3UgpfSp2t6k A person who can speak 21 accents in English accurately. Since then I send “Fit but you know it” (Number 1 in the English music charts) to people.

We the lyrics its even better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VV7Z2ZTQauM Eminem: Who Knew > lots of swearing to learn C lick “more info” for the Lyrics http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yKlJOAHksY&feature=related The Verve > Love is Noise http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdRGDGl0yfM The Killers > Human Nice big lyrics http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDJRvLT7Mhw Libertines > Good old days old people say “its not like the good old days” because they believed the past was better it probably was for them > this song says “these are the good old days” cool English Accents Acentos Ingles One of things you can love about listening to all the English accents is you will learn the most frequent words. Some words are in every type of English, so when you hear a word from an English, an American and an Irish person then you know its important to remember. Also if the pronunciation is the same for 2 different countries then its probably best to say it that way. International English (as I call it) has different rules. Someone who speaks spanish can speak wrong English to a portuguese speaker and they understand each other. They both learn English from a similar perspective and so they can communicate. That doesn't mean an English or an American person will understand you. And surprise surprise, if you want to speak to Spanish/Portuguese then use your language or their language. You are learning English to speak with English, Americans and Australians who rarely speak a 2nd language. So your English has to be good. Portuguese/Spanish/Italian/French for example may be quite similar. English uses a different system. Those languages are mainly phonetic and English uses lots of Homophones (more than 400) > See Barnes Method English @ 2nd Edition for more information about this.

You can find it on the interrnet with www.ovguide.com Welsh music bands include the Stereophonics and the Manic Street Preachers. 2 of the best bands from this 20 years and if you can hear them speak aswell its great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3UgpfSp2t6k A person who can speak 21 accents in English accurately. Watch this several times. British English teacher advice for Koreans by muse700 @ 2008-11-09 – 02:32:03 For English/Americans to understand you better you must open your mouth more when you speak. There are certain letters e.g. R, L, which used to be hard for English people to understand. For example my name is Pery and one of my students says "very good" and I hear "pery good". In this book: http://www.scribd.com/doc/5019671/Barnes-Method-English-Fun-Papers-Best-of The Fun Paper "Japanesy" in the book explains how to say each of the letters correctly. 1st practise saying words "reaaaaalllllllyyy looooonnnnggg wiiiith aaa wiiiddde ooooppeeen mouth and long vowels". > say words really long with a wide open mouth and long vowels. This exercise makes it much easier to pronounce things Have Fun
