The cloud computing phenomenon will enable businesses to use IT more productively which in turn will enable growth in the IT sector. Cloud Computing refers to the practice of making software services and data storage facilities available over the Internet, enabling companies to hire and use these facilities on a pay-per-use basis instead of investing in its own infrastructure. Consultancy firm Zinnov Management estimates the cloud computing market in India to grow at a compounded annual growth rate of 58% to touch $1.08 billion (Rs4,900 crore) by 2015. The cloud market in India was $110 million in 2010. (Source: HT Business, Delhi, May 27 2010)

What is Cloud Computing?

Cloud Computing is the delivery of computing as a service rather than a product, whereby shared resources, software and information are provided to computers and other devices as a utility over a network. The concept of cloud computing fills a perpetual need of IT: a way to increase capacity or add capabilities on the fly without investing in new infrastructure, training new personnel, or licensing

new software. Cloud Computing encompasses any subscription-based or pay-per-use service that, in real time over the Internet, extends ITs existing capabilities. In short, Flexible Infrastructure.
