Descendants of Alexis Laverdure

Alexis Laverdure was born circa. 1765 in Quebec, Lower Canada, and died on April 17, 1850 at Pembina. He married Angelique “Kisi-kawpskup” Montour circa 1797 in the North West Territories “according to the custom of the country”. She was the Metisse daughter of Nicolas Jean Menard dit Montour and Oom-na-ho-wish (Swampy Cree). She was born circa 1780 in the Pembina district. Children of Alexis Laverdure and Angelique “Kisi-kawpskup” Montour are: • Joseph, born 1804 in Pembina district, died August 16, 1888 at Turtle Mountain, near Belcourt, North Dakota. He married Therese Plouffe Villebrun in 1833 at Pembina, the daughter of Louis Villebrun and Marianne Collets (Chippewa). She was born circa 1810 – 1811. • Marie, born 1810 in Lake Superior district, North West Territories. She married Francois St. Pierre Jr. circa 1824 in Red River District, the son of Francois St. Pierre and Angelique. He was born October 1788 in Fort Garry district, and died December 9, 1880. • Alexis Jr., born 1812 in Lake Superior district, North West Territories. • Louis, born 1814 in Pembina district. • Nancy, born 1816 in Pembina district. • Josette, born 1818 in Pembina district. • Pierre, born July 1819 in Pembina district, North West Territories. He died March 18, 1902 in Lewistown, Fergus County, Montana. He married Catherine Charette in 1832 in Red River District (either in Manitoba or North Dakota). They are identified in the 1850 Minnesota Territory Census, as residing in House #108 in Pembina, which is now part of North Dakota. Catherine was the daughter of Jean Baptiste Charette Sr. and Charlotte Sansregret. She was born July 1815 at LaChapelle. • Suzanne, born 1820 in North West Territories. She married Joseph Beaucasque Poitras in 1840 in Red River District, the son of Andre Henri Poitras and Marie "Marguerite" Grant. He was born 1806 in North West Territories, and died 1849 in Red River District. • Isabelle, born 1826 in Ste Agathe Parish District, Red River Settlement. She married Louison Ducharme dit Descoteaux circa 1839 in the Red River Settlement. He was the son of Joseph Descoteaux dit Decouteau and Lizette (Chippewa). He was born March 1818 in North West Territories.
